Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini today handed over appointment letters to 25 newly recruited Block Development and Panchayat Officers (BDPOs), encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to the development of rural Haryana.
Congratulating the new officers, the Chief Minister emphasized that their selection was based purely on merit, reflecting the state government’s commitment to transparency and ending the previous “kharchi-parchi” system. He stated, “You are the torchbearers of a new administrative culture in Haryana. Your role goes beyond administration — it is transformational.”
Highlighting the responsibilities ahead, he urged the officers to focus on strengthening rural infrastructure, empowering Panchayati Raj institutions, and ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes in alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the newly appointed BDPOs will uphold the government’s trust and bring energy and accountability to grassroots governance. He said their induction will also help address the staff shortage in the Panchayati Raj system.
The recruitment was conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) through the HCS Main Examination in March 2024. Of the 113 candidates selected for various posts, 34 were chosen for BDPO roles. The appointment process had been delayed due to a court case, which was finally resolved after 11 months of legal proceedings in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Development and Panchayats Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar congratulated the appointees and urged them to work with honesty, dedication, and public sensitivity. He encouraged them to become role models and proactively strengthen local self-governance.
Also present at the occasion were Haryana Advocate General Pravindra Singh Chauhan, Commissioner and Secretary of the Development and Panchayat Department Dr. Amit Agrawal, Additional Principal Secretary to the CM Dr. Saket Kumar, Director General DK Behera, OSD Bharat Bhushan Bharti, and other senior officials.
