CM Nayab Singh Saini : Haryana is the first state to procure all crops at MSP
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini has instructed officials to commence government procurement of mustard from March 15, instead of March 28, due to its early arrival in mandis.
Chairing a review meeting on mustard procurement for the Rabi marketing season 2025-26, CM Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare. He highlighted that Haryana is the first state to procure all crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
To ensure a hassle-free selling process for farmers, 108 mandis have been designated for mustard procurement. He directed procurement agencies, the Mandi Board, and related departments to facilitate smooth purchases.
Officials reported that mustard is usually cultivated on 17 to 20 lakh acres in the state, but in the 2024-25 Rabi season, it has been sown on 21.08 lakh acres, with an estimated production of 15.59 lakh metric tonnes. The central government has set the MSP for mustard at ₹5,950 per quintal.
Farmers must register and verify their details on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal to avail of the MSP. The procurement will be carried out by HAFED and the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, HAFED, Haryana State Marketing Board, Food and Civil Supplies Department, and Haryana State Warehousing Corporation.
