The Haryana State Child Welfare Council has launched a distinctive initiative to promote CM Nayab Singh Saini s vision for women’s empowerment. In this effort, the Council’s Vice President, Smt. Suman Saini, invited the wives of Haryana Government ministers and MLAs to the Chief Minister’s residence, Sant Kabir Kutir, to gather their suggestions for empowering women through the Kamal Sakhi Manch.
The Kamal Sakhi Manch was conceived based on the suggestions of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and BJP National President Sh. Jagat Prakash Nadda. While ministers, MLAs, and MPs frequently meet at official events, their family members often lack such opportunities. This platform was created to foster unity under the concept of “one party, one family,” strengthening personal and political relationships.
Previously, CM Nayab Singh Saini also demonstrated his commitment to women’s empowerment by organizing a special event in Jind during the Sawan Hariyali Teej festival, where he presented Kauthli to women. In Haryanvi tradition, Kauthli is a symbolic gift sent from a girl’s family to her in-laws on Teej, reinforcing familial bonds, especially between siblings.
Coinciding with this, the recent oath-taking ceremony of newly elected mayors, chairpersons, and councillors in Panchkula saw over 50% women representatives, reflecting the government’s commitment to ensuring equal participation of women in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local bodies. Additionally, these newly elected women leaders also observed the Haryana Assembly’s budget session proceedings.
For the first time since Haryana’s formation, a Chief Minister’s wife has brought together the spouses of ministers and MLAs at the Chief Minister’s residence. Smt. Suman Saini has previously celebrated Haryanvi festivals with women at the residence, further fostering cultural and social solidarity.
The event witnessed the presence of Haryana Assembly Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Shruti Choudhry, MLAs Krishna Gehlawat, Shakti Rani Sharma, Bimla Chaudhary, and many women associated with Kamal Sakhi Manch.
