CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Smriti Stupa, Vaishali in Vaishali district today by unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister attended the installation work and worship ceremony of the holy relic of Lord Buddha in the main hall on the first floor of the Smriti Stupa.
Amid chanting of hymns, the chief Buddhist monks solemnly and reverently installed the holy relic of Lord Buddha in the new room. During this time, the Chief Minister attended the installation work and puja ceremony with full devotion and paid obeisance to Lord Buddha. The written message of His Holiness the Dalai Lama was also read out during the programme. The event was attended by Buddhist monks and religious leaders from 15 countries. A large number of Buddhist monks present there ceremoniously chanted mantras during the installation of the holy relic.
During the programme, the Chief Minister was welcomed by prominent Buddhist monks by presenting him with insignia, angavastram and book.
After the installation work, the Chief Minister offered prayers before the statue of Lord Buddha installed on the ground floor and wished for happiness, peace and prosperity of the state.
On this historic occasion, the Chief Minister planted a baby sapling of the sacred Bodhi tree of Bodh Gaya in the premises of Buddha Samyak Sangrahalaya cum Smriti Stupa.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Making of Buddha Samyak Museum and Smriti Stupa Gallery by cutting the ribbon. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister took a look at the artefacts based on the activities, activities and spiritual messages related to the life of Lord Buddha at the gallery.
The Chief Minister also inspected the Buddha Samyak Museum cum Memorial Stupa Complex and took stock of the arrangements there. Secretary, Building Construction Department, Shri Kumar Ravi informed the Chief Minister that a solar panel of 500 KW capacity has been installed here, which will benefit the entire complex with solar energy. The Secretary, Building Construction Department presented to the Chief Minister a replica of the Buddha Samyak Museum cum Memorial Stupa.
“This is a historic and proud moment for all of us Biharis. We constantly inspected the construction work of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Smriti Stupa so that the construction work could be completed as soon as possible in a unique way. It is a matter of great happiness that today the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Smriti Stupa has been inaugurated in Vaishali. The structure of this complex has also been made very good from the environmental point of view so that the tourists coming here have a pleasant feeling. He said that in the year 2010 we came to Vaishali and stayed here for 4 days.

When we went to see Maad Stupa then we came to know that the skeletal remains found under Maad Stupa have been kept in Patna Museum, then the idea came that a stupa should be built here and the skeletal remains found here should be kept in Vaishali itself.
The Chief Minister said that the holy ‘Asthi Kalash “of Lord Buddha has been installed on the first floor of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Smriti Stupa. The bone relics of Lord Buddha were found from 6 places in which the bone relics found from the mud stupa of Vaishali are the most authentic which the Chinese traveller Hsuan Tsang has also mentioned in his book. The Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Smriti Stupa will not only establish Vaishali on the global Buddhist map but will also give a new direction to tourism, culture and employment.
It is known that Vaishali is a historical and mythological land, which gave the world the first republic. It is also a land of women empowerment. For the first time, women were included in the Sangha of Buddhists here. The Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Smriti Stupa is a grand symbol of Bihar ‘s cultural heritage and world Buddhist heritage. This grand stupa on 72 acres of land has been constructed with pink stones of Rajasthan. In the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum cum Memorial Stupa, library, museum, pond, guest house, MP theater, cafeteria etc. have been constructed. Along with the solar power plant, better parking arrangements have been made in this complex. The foundation stone of this Stupa was laid in 2019. Lord Buddha used to travel from place to place. During this time he stayed at Venuvan in Rajgir and then moved to Bodhgaya, where he attained enlightenment. After attaining enlightenment, Lord Buddha went to Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh where he gave his first sermon. After that he again came to Rajgir and started preaching on the Griddhakuta mountain. After this Lord Buddha stayed in Vaishali and then reached Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh) via Kesariya (East Champaran), Lauria Nandan Garh (West Champaran). Finally he became very ill and reached Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh where he passed away.
The state government has developed all the places associated with Lord Buddha in the state.
The area of Venuvan in Rajgir has been increased and beautified.
The road to reach Griddhakut mountain has been repaired. A 50 feet high statue of Lord Buddha has been installed in the horse bowl. In the year 2010, Buddha Smriti Park and Buddha Stupa have been constructed in Patna. Now the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum cum Memorial Stupa has been inaugurated in Vaishali. Buddhist tourist sites have been combined into one circuit.
Tourists coming to Bodhgaya can go to Kushinagar from Dhanah-Ratwal (Gautam Buddha) bridge built on Gandak river in West Champaran district via Rajgir, Rajgir to Patna, Patna to Vaishali and Vaishali to Kesariya Stupa, Lauria Nandan Garh.
