CM Nitish Kumar today laid the foundation stone of the 200 bedded Government Tibbi Medical College and Hospital to be built at a cost of Rs 264 crore in the premises of Nalanda Medical College and Hospital. The institute is being developed on 10 acres. The officials briefed the Chief Minister about the hostels, administrative buildings and other facilities through the master plan.
CM Nitish inspected the site and directed to complete the construction work as soon as possible. He said that the aim of the State Government is to provide affordable, accessible and high quality health services to every citizen. He also said that the land of Bihar has an old relationship with Unani system of medicine, and the government is committed to strengthen it. At the same time, efforts are on to provide better options to the people through Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic and Unani medicine.
It may be recalled that on November 22, 2021, the Chief Minister had visited the old Tibbi College and decided to construct its new campus in view of the pathetic condition of the building. Now this new institute is being developed on 10 acres of land near Nalanda Medical College. Once the construction is completed, the old institute will be shifted to this new campus.
The project includes a 200-bed hospital, auditorium with a capacity of 500 people, boys and girls hostels, drug manufacturing centre, accommodation for staff etc. Each year 150 students will be enrolled. All buildings will have facilities like anti-seismic structure, solar lights and rainwater harvesting. The complex will be fully air-conditioned and is likely to be completed in 30 months.
CM Nitish said that Unani medicine is a holistic system of medicine, which is based not only on the treatment of diseases but also on the balance of body, mind and soul. It pays special attention to lifestyle, diet and natural medicine.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, BJP’s UP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh and UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh were among those present on the occasion.
