CM Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the Rs 422 crore Ashok Rajpath Double Deck Flyover by cutting a ribbon and unveiling a plaque at a function held near Kargil Chowk in Patna. The flyover runs from Kargil Chowk to Science College via PMCH. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the double deck flyover in both directions and took stock of the status of connectivity to the PMCH. Appreciating the project, he said that this route will relieve congestion and ease traffic.
The construction of this double deck flyover started in January 2022, which has now been completed. The flyover is built in two layers. The upper deck (2175.50 m) is for traffic from Gandhi Maidan towards Science College and lower deck (1449.30 m) is for traffic from Patna College towards Gandhi Maidan. Arrangements have been made to connect both the decks to PMCH and each has a width of 8.5 m.
Later, CM Nitish Kumar inaugurated the new building of Government Urdu Library, Patna constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.07 crore. After unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon, he inspected the building and enquired about the facilities there. He said that there is a calm environment and necessary facilities for studies, which will facilitate the readers and researchers.
Education Minister Sunil Kumar welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a book. It is noteworthy that this Urdu library was established in 1938 and now it has been further improved by constructing a new building. The library, which has a daily footfall of 50-60 readers, has about 40,000 books in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Persian and Arabic, including Urdu. Apart from this, books of competitive examinations, class-wise books of NCERT, magazines and newspapers are also available. All necessary furniture and equipment have been installed in the new building under the state plan.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Education Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Road Construction Minister, Local MLA, many Legislative Councillors, departmental officials and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
