CM Nitish Kumar inspected the under-construction terminal of Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport. He took stock of various parts of the terminal including cafeteria, modern lounges, parking, check-in counters. The officials informed the Chief Minister that all the works would be completed by June and 11 Aero Stations were being constructed here.

During the inspection, CM Nitish Kumar said that the progress of the construction work is being constantly reviewed and the remaining works should be completed soon so that the passengers can get better facilities. He informed that in view of the increasing number of passengers, the airport is being expanded, which will make it possible to operate more flights with modern facilities and passengers will be able to take more advantage of air travel.

Later, CM Nitish Kumar conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed international airport at Bihta, where officials gave him a detailed briefing on the construction work. The airport will be equipped with modern facilities and will have 10 Aero Stations. The Chief Minister also inspected the under-construction Khagaul-Bihta elevated road.

During the inspection, CM Nitish Kumar said that the government wants the construction of Bihta Airport to be completed as soon as possible so that people can get more facilities in air travel. International flights will start from Patna’s Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport and Bihta Airport, which will benefit the passengers of Bihar. He informed that Khagaul-Bihta elevated road is being constructed to reach Patna Airport to Bihta Airport in less time, which will improve connectivity and reduce passenger load at Patna Airport. This will also increase employment and business opportunities.

The Bihar cabinet has approved several important proposals to strengthen air connectivity and regional development. For the Raxaul brownfield airport, 139 acres of land will be acquired at an estimated cost of Rs 207 crore. The pre-feasibility study and obstacle limitation survey has been completed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The runway of Darbhanga airport will be expanded as per international standards to enable operation of bigger aircraft. For this, 90 acres of additional land will be acquired at a cost of Rs 245 crore. For the development of Birpur Airport at Supaul, 88.83 acres of land will be acquired at a cost of Rs. 42.37 crore. So far, Rs 495 crore has been sanctioned for land acquisition.
