CM Nitish Kumar today inspected the construction work of the four-lane bridge parallel to Mahatma Gandhi Setu over river Ganga. He took stock of the progress of the bridge and the approach road from the southern bank to the northern bank of the Ganga. During the inspection, the Chief Minister stopped near Paya No. 9 at Saifpur in Hajipur and took detailed information from the officials about the status of the work.
Additional Chief Secretary, Road Construction Department, Mihir Kumar Singh said that the total length of the bridge will be 14.5 km and its construction work is being done at a rapid pace. Eight-lane approach roads are also being constructed on both sides of the bridge.
The Chief Minister directed that the construction of this four-lane bridge should be completed at the earliest so that the people could get relief from the problem of traffic jams on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu. He said that this bridge will further ease the traffic between North and South Bihar. The people of Muzaffarpur, Saran and Vaishali districts in particular will get direct benefit of this and commuting to Patna will become easier. The Chief Minister also said that he is constantly monitoring the project and it should be ensured that the construction work is completed soon.
