CM Nitish Kumar today transferred an amount of Rs 271.15 crore to the bank accounts of a total of 62,15,104 beneficiaries of the Social Security Pension Scheme and Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) in a programme held at ‘Sankalp’ at 1 Anney Marg. Of this, Rs 254.45 crore was given to 61,29,548 beneficiaries of the social security pension scheme and Rs 16.70 crore to 85,556 beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana.
CM Nitish Kumar said that the amount includes Rs. 93.50 crore given by the Central Government and Rs. 87.55 crore by the State Government. Apart from this, a total amount of Rs. 90.08 crore has also been transferred under other schemes of the State Government such as Bihar Disability Scheme, Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme and Kanya Utthan Yojana.
The Chief Minister gave details of the amount transferred to the beneficiaries under various schemes.
Bihar Disability Pension Scheme: Rs. 38.69 crore to 9.64 lakh people
Lakshmibai Pension Yojana: Rs 34.69 crore disbursed to 8.63 lakh beneficiaries
Indira Gandhi Old Age Pension: 35.59 lakh beneficiaries to get Rs. 151.32 crore from Centre and State
Indira Gandhi Disability Scheme: Rs. 4.42 crore to 1.10 lakh beneficiaries
Indira Gandhi Widow Pension: Rs. 25.32 crore to 6.32 lakh beneficiaries
Thus, a total amount of Rs. 254.45 crore has been transferred to the beneficiaries under social security schemes, out of which Central Government’s contribution is Rs. 93.51 crore and State Government’s contribution is Rs. 160.94 crore.
Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, the state government transferred Rs 16.70 crore to 85,556 girl students.
CM Nitish Kumar said that good cooperation is also being received from the Central Government in various sectors. The Social Welfare Department is running these schemes and the beneficiaries are getting its direct benefit.
Social Welfare Department Secretary Vandana Preyasi welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting a sapling to him. On the occasion, the departmental officials shared the progress of the schemes through a presentation. It was informed that from 12.25 lakh pensioners in 2005-06, the number has increased to 1.09 crore in 2024-25. While earlier the expenditure was Rs. 98.34 crore, now Rs.5, 241.67 crore is being spent.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Social Welfare Minister Madan Sahni, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena and other senior officers were present on the occasion. The District Magistrates of all the districts were also connected through video conferencing.
