CM Nitish Kumar handed over appointment letters to 59,028 distinguished teachers at the ‘Samvad’ held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. These include 55,845 primary, 2,532 secondary and 651 higher secondary teachers. The Chief Minister symbolically handed over the appointment letters to Neelam Kumari, Rustam Ali, Neelu Rai, Achyut Kumar and Deepak Kumar Tiwari.
In his address, CM Nitish Kumar congratulated the appointed teachers and stressed on their responsibility. He informed that several steps have been taken for education reform including large scale recruitment of teachers through Panchayat and Municipal bodies since 2006-07. The examinations were conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission for the reinstatement of teachers, in which 2,53,961 employed teachers became successful government teachers. Now only 86,000 teachers are left, who will be reinstated soon after passing the exam.
CM Nitish Kumar informed that recently 66,800 teachers and 42,918 headmasters have been successful in the examination, who will be given appointment letters soon. He said that now the number of government teachers has gone up to 5,80,951.
He appealed to the teachers to ensure quality education to the children and directed the Education Minister to monitor the teaching work. Deputy Chief Minister, Education Minister, other senior ministers, officials and newly-appointed teachers were present at the programme.
