CM Nitish Kumar made several important announcements during the review meeting.
CM Nitish Kumar today held a meeting at the Samadhalaya Auditorium to review the development schemes being run in Gaya district under Pragati Yatra.
Gaya District Magistrate Dr. Thiagarajan S.M. gave a detailed presentation on various ongoing schemes in the district. These included Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, Mukhyamantri Nischay Self Help Allowance Scheme, Kushal Yuva Programme, Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal Yojana, Solar Street Light Scheme, Agriculture Feeder Construction, Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, Telemedicine Facility, Veterinary Services, Panchayat Government Building Construction and other schemes. Apart from this, many important aspects including Higher Secondary School in every Panchayat, development of playgrounds, road connectivity schemes, restoration of water sources under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan were discussed.
During the review meeting, the people’s representatives also placed the problems of their areas before the Chief Minister. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister gave necessary instructions to the officials to ensure further action as per the needs while maintaining the pace of development works. He also made it clear that the announcements that have been approved during the Pragati Yatra will be approved by the Council of Ministers so that the schemes can be implemented effectively.
The Chief Minister said that since November 24, 2005, continuous efforts are being made for the development of Bihar. Referring to the previous situation in the state, he said that earlier people used to feel unsafe in stepping out of the house after dusk, but now peace and brotherhood prevails in Bihar. He highlighted the progress made in the field of power supply, road construction, health facilities and education.
The Chief Minister also discussed the initiatives taken for the protection of temples and graveyards. He said that it has been decided to build a boundary wall for the protection of temples which are more than 60 years old, so that incidents of theft can be prevented. At the same time, the work of cordoning off the graveyards is also continuing.
He also appreciated the cooperation of the central government and said that the state government is making all possible efforts for the development of Bihar.
CM Nitish Kumar said that in the year 2006, the dress scheme was launched for the students studying in government schools. In the year 2009, the cycle scheme was implemented for girls, but when boys also demanded it, in 2010 they were also given the benefit of this scheme. Earlier, a very small number of girls used to go to school, but after getting bicycles, they started reaching school on time. Moreover, in the evening they started taking their parents to the market, which is a positive change. The Chief Minister also said that development work is being done in every sector in Bihar, and no sector is untouched by it.
Sharing his experiences, he said that when he was an MP and Union Minister, he too had to walk due to bad roads. Today, education, health, roads, bridges and other basic facilities have been extensively developed in the state, due to which it now takes less time than before to reach Patna from any corner of Bihar. A large number of teachers have been rehabilitated, school buildings have been constructed, and efforts are being made to improve the education system. Madrasas have been given government recognition, and teachers teaching there have been provided government pay scales.
Talking about the health sector, CM Nitish Kumar said that before 2005, very few patients used to come to the primary health centres for treatment, but now free medicine and medical facilities are being provided there, which is benefiting thousands of patients every month. The number of government medical colleges in the state has also doubled. Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) is being built with a capacity of 5400 beds, while other old medical colleges are also being expanded.
The Chief Minister informed about ensuring availability of basic amenities like tap water, toilet construction, pucca street-nalis, electricity connection to every household under the Saat Nischay Yojana. Since 2020, under Saat Nischay Yojana-2, schemes like rural solar street lights, telemedicine, Bal Hriday Yojana and irrigation to every field are being worked on at a rapid pace.
Talking about the steps taken towards women empowerment, the Chief Minister said that 50% reservation was given to women in Panchayati Raj Institutions in 2006 and in Municipal Bodies in 2007. After this, there has been a huge increase in the number of women public representatives in Bihar. The number of self-help groups has also been increased, to which lakhs of women are associated and are becoming financially self-reliant. In 2013, it was decided to give 35% reservation to women in the police force, making the number of women police personnel in Bihar the highest in the country. Since 2016, this reservation has been implemented in all government jobs.
Talking about employment generation, CM Nitish Kumar said that between 2005 and 2020, 8 lakh government jobs were given, and so far more than 9 lakh people have been given government jobs. In addition, 24 lakh people have been provided employment, and this number will be further increased by 2025. Based on caste-based enumeration, 94 lakh poor families have been identified who are being given financial assistance so that they can improve their livelihood.
Discussing the development works in Gaya district, the Chief Minister informed that Engineering College, Para Medical Institute, and other educational institutions have been established in the district. Besides, schemes like construction of roads and bridges, super speciality facility in medical college, drinking water supply under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, and Gaya-Dobhi four-lane road project have also been successfully implemented. Gayaji Dam has been constructed to solve the water problem in Falgu river, which will facilitate the devotees coming to offer pindadaan. The security and structure of Mahabodhi Temple and Vishnupad Temple have also been strengthened, along with the construction of a very special guest house.
The Chief Minister said that keeping in mind the overall development of Bihar, all the schemes are being implemented effectively so that every citizen of the state can get a better life.
CM Nitish Kumar informed that 93 Panchayat Government buildings have been completed, while the remaining 290 buildings will be completed by June 2025. It was decided to construct Panchayat Sarkar Bhavans in all the Gram Panchayats on the lines of the Central and State Government so that all the problems related to the Panchayat could be solved at one place. He said that electricity has been provided to every household in Gaya district, along with 9 electricity grid sub-stations, 63 power sub-stations and 42 dedicated agriculture feeders have been built, providing 7,446 electricity connections to farmers. In the district, 5 lakh 3 thousand Jeevika Didis are associated with 60,726 self-help groups, and 21 Jeevika Didi’s kitchens are being run.
Referring to various development works in Gaya district, the Chief Minister said that new works would be taken up in future also. He made several important announcements keeping in mind the demands of the people of the district, including:
- Construction of Kothi Weir on Morhar River in Imamganj Block
- Restoration of Lavabar, Bara and Sondaha dams
- Widening and extension of Paine and Pulia from Basatpur Weir to Lodipur
- Construction of two flyovers at Ghugritand and Mufassil Mor
- Widening of Gaya-Paraiya-Guraru-Aurangabad-Rafiganj road
- Extension of road connecting Imamganj block to Jharkhand
- Construction of Minority Residential School at Belthu Village
- Construction of two new parks at Kandi Nawada and Silaunja
- Construction of new Block-cum-Zonal Office Buildings in 14 Blocks of Gaya District
- Construction of ROB (Overbridge) at Bageshwari Railway Gumti
- Widening and strengthening of road from Bela-Panari Road to Shakir Bigha
- Construction of two bridges in Bara village of Banke Bazar block
- Establishment of Degree College at Imamganj
CM Nitish Kumarr assured that all these works will be completed soon and action will be taken if more needs arise. He said that development work is being done in every area of Bihar and it will be done even faster. The suggestions of the public representatives of any party will be respected and the needs of their areas will be met. He reiterated that his government is working in the interest of all and will continue to do so.During the review meeting, District Collector Dr. Thyagarajan S.M. presented the Chief Minister with the insignia and congratulated him. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Subhash Desai, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat and PWD Minister Ashok Chavan attended the meeting along with top officials.
