CM Nitish Kumar today inaugurated the road connectivity from Patna to Raghopur under the Kachi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane Ganga bridge project by cutting a ribbon and unveiling a plaque. He then inspected the newly constructed bridge up to Raghopur. On his arrival at Raghopur, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by the locals with applause and chants of “Zindabad.” The villagers thanked the Chief Minister for the construction of the bridge and appreciated his work.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working for the welfare of the people and regional development, and will continue to do so with full commitment. He said that this bridge project was a dream for years, which the government has fulfilled. He directed the officials to complete the remaining works at the earliest.
The Chief Minister said that with the opening of this bridge, Raghopur Diara area will be connected to the capital Patna by road throughout the year, which will boost agriculture, industry and trade here. The availability of emergency medical services will also improve. The Mahatma Gandhi Setu will reduce traffic pressure and provide a new alternate route between north and south Bihar. Along with this, the people of the eastern part of Patna will also get better transport facilities.
After this, the Chief Minister inspected the link road connecting the bridge to JP Ganga Path in Didarganj and directed to complete the related works within a month. He informed that the JP Ganga Path has been completed up to Didarganj, which will further ease the traffic.
The six-lane greenfield bridge project from Kachi Dargah (Patna) to Bidupur (Vaishali) is 1 9.76 km long, including 9.76 km long bridge and 10km approach road. The total cost is Rs 4,988 crore. In the first phase, construction of 4.57 -km stretch from Kacchi Dargah to Raghopur has been completed. Where earlier the boat was the only means, now road connectivity has become available. The construction works of the second and third phases are underway, and the project is up to 85% complete.
