CM Nitish Kumar today inspected the under-construction underground walkway and double-decker flyover in Patna. This sub-way is starting from Patna Junction and going up to multi-level parking and GPO Golambar. He reviewed passenger amenities like travelators, escalators and enquired about connectivity from the officials. He directed that the remaining construction work should be completed soon and the project should be started so that the congestion in the Patna Junction area is reduced and the traffic is smooth.
The objective of this project is to improve traffic management around Patna Junction. The 440-metre-long subway will provide direct connectivity from Patna Junction to multi-level parking and G2 multi-modal hub. Separate parking arrangements are being made for autos, e-rickshaws, cabs, private vehicles and city buses in an area of 27,356 square metres in this hub.
After this, the Chief Minister inspected the double-decker flyover being built on Ashok Rajpath. He took stock of both the top and bottom levels and directed the officials to complete the work at the earliest. He said that this flyover will benefit the students of Patna University and the residents of the vicinity, as well as reduce traffic and noise.
This double-decker flyover is a total of 2.2 km long – the upper part stretches from Kargil Chowk to Science College and the lower part from BN College to Patna College. In this, a connection has also been made near Krishna Ghat for those going to and from PMCH and there is a plan to connect it to the multi-level parking of PMCH. This is one of the dream projects of the Chief Minister.
Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Additional Chief Secretary J. C. Sharma, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister J. C. Sharma, Secretary GAD Devesh Kumar and other senior officers attended the meeting.
