CM Nitish Kumar inspected the construction of underground drains and roads from Saidpur Nala to Pahari. He inspected the drain near Sheetla Mandir flyover, drainage pumping station at Pahadi and Saidpur drain. Urban Development and Housing Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh and Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parasar briefed him about the details of the project.
During the inspection, CM Nitish Kumar said that he has seen this project many times before and it is an important scheme. He directed the officials to reconstruct the Saidpur nullah in a better way and complete the construction of the four-lane road over it expeditiously. He said that with the construction of this road, the problem of traffic congestion in areas like Saidpur, Rajendra Nagar, Musallahpur Hat, Gaighat and Pahari will be solved and people will also get an alternative route to reach New Patna Bypass. Along with this, the beauty and traffic system of the city will also improve.
Significantly, the water of 9 drainage pumping stations and one sewerage treatment plant (STP) of Patna flows through the Saidpur drain. The project is being implemented by BUDCO under Urban Development Department at a cost of Rs. 259.81 crore. The length of the underground canal is 5.61 km.
Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, Patna District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh and Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parasar were also present during the inspection.
