On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, CM Nitish Kumar offered prayers to Lord Buddha at a special program organised at Buddha Smriti Park. During this time, the Buddhist monks made him worship the Buddha statue installed in the park, the Bodhi tree of Bodh Gaya, the Ananda Bodhi tree and the holy Bodhi tree brought from Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka.
CM Nitish Kumar offered prayers to the holy relics of Lord Buddha at Pataliputra Karuna Stupa located in the park, circumambulated the Stupa and also meditated. He along with the Buddhist monks wished for world peace, prosperity and goodwill of the state and the country.
After this, CM Nitish Kumar visited the Vipassana Centre, took stock of the arrangements there and also meditated for some time. The operators of the Vipassana Centre expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the construction and facilities.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, BJP’s UP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh and UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh were among those present on the occasion.
After the program, the Chief Minister reached his residence at 1 Anne Marg and prayed for peace, development and harmony of the state and the country by worshipping the Buddhist rock and Bodhi tree there.
