CM Nitish Kumar today transferred an amount of Rs. 1247.34 crore to the account of more than 1 crore 12 lakh pensioners under the Social Security Pension Scheme through DBT at a function held at Sankalp, 1 Anne Marg. The pension amount of Rs. 1100 for the month of July has been transferred to the beneficiaries of Social Security Pension Scheme.
In the program, Secretary of Social Welfare Department Mrs. Bandana Preyashi informed about the amount of pension and the number of beneficiaries to be given in the month of July under the Social Security Pension Scheme and said that the Social Welfare Department is fully committed to provide its benefits to all eligible social security pensioners as per the direction of the Chief Minister. On this occasion, programs have been organized in all the 38 districts of Bihar, in which the people’s representatives, district magistrates and beneficiaries of the districts are involved.
Addressing the function, CM Nitish Kumar said that it is a matter of great happiness that under the social security pension, the amount of pension for the month of July at the rate of Rs. 1100 has been transferred to the bank accounts of all the elderly, disabled and widows today.
I have already directed to transfer the pension amount to the account of all the beneficiaries on the 10th of every month. It will be convenient for them to transfer the pension amount to the beneficiary’s account on time. Take special care that no eligible social pensioner is left out. Those social pensioners who have been left out should also be given its benefit soon.
CM Nitish Kumar said that the state government has increased the amount of pension from Rs 400 per month to Rs 1100 per month for the elderly, disabled and widows under the social security pension from June. In the light of this decision, on 11th July, 2025, I transferred the amount for the month of June at the rate of Rs. 1100 per beneficiary to a total of 11 million beneficiaries directly in their bank accounts. A total amount of Rs 1,227 crore was spent by the state government in this work.
CM Nitish Kumar said that the officials of the Social Welfare Department have informed that about 1 lakh new beneficiaries have been added under the pension scheme in the last one month. Thus, in the month of July, about 1 crore 12 lakh beneficiaries will get the pension amount in their account at the rate of Rs. It is to be noted that 6 social security pension schemes are being implemented in the State, out of which 3 are being run by the Central Government and 3 are being run by the State Government. National Pension Schemes under National Social Assistance Programme are – Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme. State pension schemes include Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme, Bihar Disability Pension Scheme and Chief Minister’s Old Age Pension Scheme.
The number of pensioners under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme is 35,62,501, to whom a total amount of Rs. 391.98 lakh 61,300 has been transferred today.
The number of pensioners under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme is 6,35,553, to whom an amount of Rs. 70 crore 17 lakh 69 thousand 200 has been transferred today.
The number of pensioners under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme is 1,10,744, to whom an amount of Rs. 12 crore 18 lakh 67 thousand 600 has been transferred today.
The number of pensioners under the Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme is 8,74,433, in whose account an amount of Rs 97.16 lakh 25,400 has been transferred today.
The number of pensioners under Bihar Disability Pension Scheme is 9,72,057, in whose account an amount of Rs. 107 crore 58 lakh 34 thousand has been transferred today.
Under the Chief Minister’s Old Age Pension Scheme, pensioners are being given a pension amount of Rs 1100 per month by the state government. The Chief Minister’s Old Age Pension Scheme has been implemented by the State Government from the financial year 2019-20 with the objective of providing an opportunity to all the elderly people of the State to live a life of dignity. The number of pensioners is 50,63,557, in whose account an amount of Rs 568 crore 24 lakh 66 thousand 300 has been transferred today.
During the programme, a short film on Social Security Pension Scheme was screened by the Social Welfare Department before the Chief Minister.
In the programme, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Mrs. Bandana Preyashi welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a green sapling.
