CM Nitish Kumar today laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs. 522.77 crore in Sarairanjan block of Samastipur district. The Chief Minister unveiled and laid the foundation stone of three schemes worth Rs. 200.67 crore from Harshit Utkramit High School at Gram Panchayat Manika under Sarairanjan block. These include construction of 12K 27.800 m high level RC bridge and approach road at Shankarpur Ghat of Kareh river in Shivajinagar block at a cost of Rs. 62.25 crore, construction of bypass road from Manika (SH 0-88) to Vikrampur (NH 0-322) at a cost of Rs. 42.308 crore and widening and strengthening of Rosera-Shivajinagar-Bariahi Ghat-Baheri road at a cost of Rs. 96.11 crore.
During the programme, CM Nitish was brief ed by Secretary, Road Construction Department, Mr. Sandeep Pudukalkatti regarding the development schemes for which foundation stones were laid through site plans.
Later, the Chief Minister unveiled the foundation stone of desilting work of Balan and Jamuari rivers from Neelkanth Mahadev Temple at Musapur Gram Panchayat under Sarairanjan block of Samastipur district at a total cost of Rs. 322.10 crore.
Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department, Santosh Kumar Malla apprised the Chief Minister about the desilting work of Balan and Jamuari rivers through site plan.
During the program,CM Nitish directed the officials to take special care that the work of the development schemes, whose foundation stones were laid today, is completed properly in accordance with the set target. We have been doing development work in every sector since the beginning. From roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, we are constantly engaged to ensure that every necessary infrastructure reaches the people in a better way. People will benefit a lot from the desilting of the Balan and Jamuari rivers.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar during his visit to Samastipur district on 13th January 2025 in the first phase of Pragati Yatra had announced the development schemes for which foundation stones were laid today. These include desilting of Balan and Jamuari river from Km. 0.0.00 (near Musapur village in Samastipur district) to Km. 0.78.70 (Bhith sluice near Naula village in Begusarai district) of Balan river and desilting of river bed from Km. 0.0.00 (Dholi sluice) near Harsingpur village to Km. 0.54.06 (village Musapur in Muzaffarpur district) of Jamuari river. With the implementation of this scheme, the water level of Balan and Jamuari river will remain adequate even in the summer season, which will solve the problem of underground water in the villages settled on both sides of the river. At the same time, the problem of unnecessary spread of water and waterlogging in the areas settled on both sides of the river during the flood period will also be solved, so that the rural people will get its proper benefit.
With the implementation of the scheme, the people of Pusa, Tajpur, Morwa, Sarairanjan, Vidyapati Nagar and Dalsinghsarai blocks in Samastipur district, Teghra, Mansurchak, Veerpur and Bhagwanpur blocks in Begusarai district and Moraul and Sakra blocks in Muzaffarpur district will be benefitted.
