CM Nitish Kumar today held a meeting at Mundeshwari Auditorium in Samadhalaya to review the development schemes in Kaimur district during his Pragati Yatra.
District Collector Sawan Kumar gave a detailed presentation on the progress of various ongoing schemes in the district. These included the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, Mukhyamantri Nischay Self Help Allowance Scheme, Kushal Yuva Karyakram, Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal, Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Scheme, expansion of irrigation facilities, construction of agricultural feeders, Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, promotion of women higher education, telemedicine service, veterinary facilities and construction of panchayat government buildings.
Apart from this, discussions were also held on the establishment of 10+2 schools in every panchayat, formation of sports clubs to promote sports, construction of sports grounds, Mukhya Mantri Gram Sampark Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Gramin Setu Yojana, formation of self-help groups in urban and rural areas, transparency in revenue administration, improvement in the admission-rejection process and the status of restoration of public water resources under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan. In the meeting, the people’s representatives of Aurangabad district also put forth the problems of their areas before the Chief Minister.
In his address, CM Nitish Kumar welcomed all those who attended the meeting and thanked them for the detailed information provided by the District Magistrate. He directed the officials to ensure prompt action on the problems raised by the public representatives. He informed that the major problems of all the districts were identified before the Pragati Yatra and the new development works announced during the yatra are also being given cabinet approval.
CM Nitish Kumar said that work for the development of Bihar was started from November 24, 2005, and since then efforts are on to take the state forward continuously. Referring to the situation in Bihar earlier, he said that after the first evening, people were afraid to go out, Hindu-Muslim disputes were common, the condition of hospitals was bad, roads were in bad condition, power supply was limited, and the education system was weak. But with the efforts of the government, there has been a vast improvement in all these areas.
He informed that the work of cordoning of cemeteries was started since 2006, in which more than 8,000 cemeteries have been secured so far. Apart from this, it was also decided to construct boundary walls for the protection of temples older than 60 years so that incidents of idol theft could be curbed.
The Chief Minister assured that the state government is committed to improve every sector while giving priority to development works.
“The education system in the state has improved a lot. Many new schools have been opened and a large number of teachers have been recruited. The dress scheme was introduced for students studying in government schools from 2006, while the cycle scheme for girls was implemented in 2009. From 2010, it was also started for boys, which increased the regularity of children going to school.
He said that development works are being carried out in all the districts of the state. Massive work has been done in education, health, road and bridge construction, which has reduced travel time. The recruitment of government teachers is going on, and madrassas have also been recognized, due to which the teachers teaching there are getting proper salary.
Significant improvements have also been made in health services. Prior to 2005, the number of patients in primary health centres was very low, but now a large number of patients are getting treatment there. The number of government medical colleges in the state has increased from 6 to 12, and many new medical colleges and hospitals are being set up.
Under the Saat Nischay Yojana, every household has been ensured basic amenities like tap water, construction of toilets, pucca streets, roads and electricity. Self-help groups were promoted for the upliftment of women, which was named ‘Jeevika’. Through this, millions of women have got financial independence.
Women were given 50% reservation in Panchayati Raj and Municipal elections, making a large number of women public representatives. Women have also been given 35% reservation in police and government jobs, making the number of women in Bihar Police the highest.
The government had set a target of providing government jobs to 10 lakh people in 2020, which has now been increased to 12 lakh. So far, more than 9 lakh government jobs have been given, and more than 24 lakh people have been provided employment. Under the caste-based enumeration, 94 lakh poor families are being identified and given financial assistance.
Various development projects have been taken up in Kaimur district, including construction of engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes, medical colleges, hospitals, roads and bridges. The Son river-Kohira river link project will enhance irrigation facilities. A degree college will be built in Adhaura block, and a bypass will be constructed in Mohaniya.
CM Nitish Kumar assured that other requirements related to the development of Kaimur district would also be met. The meeting was attended by various ministers, MLAs, public representatives and officials who reviewed the development works and discussed further plans.
