Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami today met Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi
CM Pushkar Dhami met Minister Mansukhand held discussions on several key proposals aimed at the holistic development of sports in the state, creation of world-class sports infrastructure, and providing international-level training and facilities to athletes. He also requested the support of the central government in these initiatives.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand for the Centre’s support in successfully hosting the 38th National Games, noting that the event gave the state a new identity. He said that the National Games marked an important step in presenting Uttarakhand as a “Sports Hub.”
He requested approval for proposals including the establishment of a high-level sports facility in Deenapani (Almora), operationalization of an ice-skating rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College (Dehradun), upgradation of the Adventure Training Centre in New Tehri, setting up an indoor artificial rock climbing facility at the Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and the construction of multipurpose sports halls in 95 development blocks of the state.
The Chief Minister also informed that Uttarakhand has set up its first Sports University, which will provide both training and academic courses related to sports for athletes of the state and the country. He sought necessary cooperation and maximum financial assistance from the Centre to develop this university into a premier sports institution.
Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya assured Chief Minister Dhami of full support in these efforts.
