Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has demanded a separate aviation policy for the hill states. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Civil Aviation Conclave 2025 held at a hotel in Dehradun on Friday. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Civil Aviation Ministers from North India were welcomed on the occasion.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this conference is a testimony to the historic progress made in the civil aviation sector of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that by connecting small cities and inaccessible areas with air connectivity through UDAN scheme, air travel has not only become accessible to common citizens but also strengthened the local economy. The Chief Minister said that at present 18 heliports are being developed in Uttarakhand, out of which services have started on 12. He said Heli services have become the lifeline and not just a mode of transport in hilly states like Uttarakhand. Whether it is disaster management, health services or pilgrimage, helicopter services have provided unprecedented convenience in these areas.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami urged the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to formulate a separate “Mountain Aviation Policy” for the hill states with provisions like special financial assistance, subsidy for operations, ATC network suitable for hilly areas, accurate weather forecast, slotting and pre-disaster preparedness. The Chief Minister also requested all operators to ensure special pilot training for mountain flights, strict adherence to safety standards and safety of passengers. Shri Suresh Kumar Khanna, Cabinet Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Gautam Kumar, Cabinet Minister, Rajasthan, Shri Vipul Goel, Cabinet Minister, Haryana, Shri Anand Bardhan, Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand and officers of the concerned States were present on the occasion.
