CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday met Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav and urged him to grant the desired environmental clearance and forest land transfer for the Rupsyabgarh hydroelectric project along with the transfer of forest land for the Tuniplasu hydroelectric project.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami apprised the Union Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change that for power requirements, Uttarakhand has to purchase power from other states and central pool. The construction of new eco-friendly hydropower projects is essential for proper provision of power supply and meeting the growing needs of the State. This will provide employment opportunities to the local people and will greatly help in the socio-economic development of the region and will also control the problem of migration in the state. Requesting early sanction for transfer of 47.547 ha of forest land and revenue land (barren land) required for construction of 72 MW Tuniplasu Hydro Electric Project proposed on River Taunus, a tributary of River Yamuna in the State of Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said that due to non-clearance of the proposed projects on River Ganga in the State of Uttarakhand, it is absolutely necessary to construct new power projects on River Yamuna and on Rivers Gauriganga, Dhauliganga in Kumayu area. The Chief Minister informed that Sircari Vale Rupsyabgarh Hydro Electric Project is the first project proposed on Gauriganga river. Requesting early clearance of the environmental clearance and transfer of 29.997 ha of forest land required for the 120 MW capacity project, the Chief Minister said it would be beneficial to construct these hydropower projects in the state in view of their strategic importance and national interest.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami requested the Union Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change to approve the proposal for the development of a ropeway from Triveni Ghat to Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in Rishikesh in the meeting of the National Board for Wildlife. He said that the scheme will help in development of religious tourism in the region and strengthening the local economy besides reducing the increasing pressure of traffic. The Chief Minister also sought the central government’s support for the revival of Chairasi Kutia (Beatles Ashram), saying it would further strengthen Rishikesh as a yoga and tourism hub globally. The Chief Minister also requested for a special assistance of Rs. 404 crore under the Five Year Plan for Forest Fire Management under CAMPA Scheme in view of the seriousness of the increasing forest fire incidents in the State of Uttarakhand. The Union Minister assured the Chief Minister of all possible support on all the proposals. Principal Secretaries Shri R. K. Sudhanshu, Shri R.
