CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed S.S .R.F Headquarters and Fire Station at Jollygrant. The Chief Minister also honoured the SDRF personnel on the occasion by presenting them with a citation.

During the programme, the Chief Minister announced that Rs 1500 per day risk allowance would be provided to gazetted officers and Rs 1000 per day to non-gazetted officers and staff working in SDF on the lines of other paramilitary forces for rescue operations to be carried out by SDRF at an altitude of more than 11,000 feet. With a view to increase the participation of women in disaster management, 6th Company of S.D.R.F. will be constituted in which one-third of women personnel will be recruited on priority basis. The period of deputation in S.S .RF will be increased from 07 years to 10 years.

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the team of S. S. R. F. on the occasion of the inauguration of the newly constructed S. S. R. F. Training Centre and Vahini Headquarters. He said that it is a matter of happiness for me that I am getting the opportunity to dedicate this newly built headquarters of SDRF to the state today as the Chief Servant. Constructed at a cost of about Rs. 144.43 crore, the HQ of S.S .RF will also have other activities in terms of training and disaster management. He said that the jawans and officers of S.D.R.F are discharging their duties with courage, valour, service and dedication. Their dedication and hard work is exemplary. The courage with which they work in adverse circumstances is commendable.

The Chief Minister said that in the event of a natural disaster, our police personnel take the lead and come forward to save the lives of people. Since the formation of S.D.R.F in 2013 in the State, S.D .R.F has done exemplary and effective work from time to time in Devbhoomi at the time of disaster. Since its formation, the SDRF has successfully rescued more than 12,000 injured persons in more than 3,000 rescue operations and recovered about 2,000 bodies in adverse circumstances. Due to its efficiency and rescue efficiency, SDRF Uttarakhand has made a unique identity in the minds of the common people of the state as well as millions of people who come to the state for religious, spiritual and adventure tourism every year. In addition to relief and rescue operations in difficult situations, SDF also conducts large-scale public awareness programs to make the general public aware of the horrors of the disaster and to develop community capacity.

The Chief Minister said that after the natural landslide incident in Joshimath a few months ago, along with the relief and rescue work, the work of making people aware was also done very efficiently by our SDRF jawans and officers. The SDRF had also played a big role in rescuing the trapped trekkers after the Uttarkashi avalanche incident. He hoped that similarly SDRF will continue to do the important work of relief and rescue in the time of any disaster efficiently. Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that with the formation of the headquarters of S. S. R. F., the jawans will get training and other facilities here. He said that our Himalayan region being a disaster prone area, it is necessary to strengthen the S. S. R. F.. Since the formation of SDRF, they have done commendable work in the field of disaster management. He said that keeping in view the heterogeneous geographical conditions of the state, the SDRF will also have to move towards arrangements for training people up to the district and divisional level. Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi said that since the formation of SDRF in Uttarakhand, commendable work is being done by them. SDRF is moving forward as a motivational force. It is working as a strong force in terms of disaster management.

Director General of Police Shri Ashok Kumar said that 5 companies of S. S. R. F. are working. S.D.R.F teams have been arranged at 39 places in the state. SDRF personnel have demonstrated their efficiency by doing commendable work during disasters. On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC general) Anita Darshi, ADC Development Rajinder Batra, Assistant Commissioner General Lal Vishwas Bains, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Moga Gurwinder Singh Johal, District Welfare Officer Bikramjit Singh Purewal and District Education Officer (Secondary) Pardeep Sharma were present.
