CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the State Disaster Management Centre this morning to review the search and rescue operations in Chamoli. He directed the officials that 46 people rescued so far should be sent to higher centres for better treatment, while the families of four persons who lost their lives in the disaster should be handed over the bodies after completing all formalities.

Instructing to expedite the search operation of the missing 4 people, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami informed that state-of-the-art equipment like radar and thermal imaging cameras are being used in the rescue work. The Army, Air Force, NDRF, SDRF, Disaster Management Department, District Administration, Health Department, Public Works Department and Supplies Department are working together in this operation.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the local administration that wherever road and communication services are disrupted, they should be restored immediately. He directed to inform the people living in high altitude areas in advance in view of the high alert issued by the Meteorological Department on March 3 and to make necessary preparations to the administration.

Besides, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami informed that the disrupted power supply has been fully restored in five blocks affected by the calamity. The Public Works Department was directed to make arrangements for early opening of roads wherever they are blocked. Also, the Supplies Department was asked to ensure adequate supply of essential commodities in the villages where road connectivity has not been restored so far.
