During the meeting of the Skill Development and Labour Department in the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed the officials that during the review of the Skill Development and Labour Department in the Secretariat, CM Pushkar directed the officials that all the concerned departmental secretaries should work in coordination to connect the youth in the state with skill development and employment. He directed the Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with the secretaries and chalk out a concrete strategy for this.
CM Pushkar also directed to link skill development with incubation and growth centres. He said that in every district, better training should be provided to the local people for jobs like plumbers, electricians, carpenters, masons. Training courses should be designed keeping in mind the demand and future requirements of the industries. State-of-the-art machines, labs and smart classrooms should be set up in the training centres.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to connect the people with skill development and training keeping in mind the traditional identity of every district. Along with increasing the registration on the Ishram portal, all skilled workers should be brought under the purview of social security. He directed that an early plan for targeted rehabilitation related action for elimination of child labour should be made. A special campaign should be launched to eradicate child labour in large districts of the state.
The Chief Minister directed that special skill development centres should be set up to increase the participation of women in the field of self-employment and skill on wheels vans should be started in remote areas of the state. The Chief Minister also directed to establish regular coordination with Doon University to provide foreign language courses to the youth of the state in the healthcare and hospitality sector while emphasizing on contacting the embassies of India in the respective countries to connect them with employment abroad. The Chief Minister also said that all necessary arrangements will be ensured in the centres of excellence being built in the districts.
CM Pushkar said that the Skill Development Department should submit a clear action plan within 10 days about the long-term plan with details of how many youth were linked to skill development and employment every year. It was informed in the meeting that the Government of India has agreed to provide one year training in ITIs and one year training in industries to the candidates undergoing training in 27 ITIs of the state under the two-year course. The process of obtaining approval for five other ITIs is in progress.
