T Siva Thanks CM Vijay for Releasing Pending Subsidy
Producer T Siva, who runs Amma Creations and has backed films such as Deiva Vaakku, Aravindhan, Saroja and Aravaan, took to social media to express his gratitude to Chief Minister Vijay.
In his post, Siva thanked Vijay for releasing nearly ₹16 crore in financial assistance for 224 films. He also acknowledged the efforts of Minister Rajmohan Arumugam, crediting him for helping clear the pending subsidy.
According to the producer, the financial assistance had been awaited for around seven years. He said the decision would bring fresh hope to 224 producers and their families.
Calling the announcement a Diwali gift, Siva highlighted that the support would benefit people whose livelihoods depend on the film industry. He also pointed out that around 90% of the beneficiaries had reportedly suffered financial losses due to film production.

Under the scheme, each eligible producer received ₹7 lakh. The initiative aims to encourage filmmakers to produce low-budget Tamil movies and bring socially meaningful stories to the screen.
The Tamil Nadu film subsidy 2026 covers films produced between 2015 and 2022. A selection committee headed by retired Justice SK Krishnan was responsible for choosing the eligible films.
Government Focuses on Films with Socially Relevant Themes
The subsidy scheme is not limited to supporting financially struggling producers. It also aims to promote cinema that addresses important social concerns and creates awareness among audiences.
During the event, Minister Rajmohan reportedly referred to filmmaker Bharathiraja’s 1994 film Karuththamma as an example of cinema that highlights social issues. The film dealt with the serious issue of female infanticide and helped draw attention to the subject.
The minister appreciated producers who prioritise meaningful storytelling and social responsibility instead of focusing exclusively on commercial success.
He also stated that future Tamil cinema state awards would be presented based on merit and transparency.
A Major Relief for the Tamil Film Industry
The release of ₹15.68 crore in pending subsidies is expected to provide financial relief to several small and independent producers. For filmmakers who have been waiting for assistance for years, the decision could help them recover some of their production expenses.
With 224 producers receiving financial support, the Tamil Nadu film subsidy 2026 has emerged as an important development for Kollywood. Producer T Siva’s reaction reflects the significance of the announcement for families and professionals whose income is linked to the film business.
The Tamil Nadu film subsidy 2026 initiative also highlights the state’s efforts to encourage affordable filmmaking and promote movies that contribute to social awareness.
