CM Vishnu Deo Sai : The recently concluded three-tier Panchayat elections in Chhattisgarh have marked a transformative moment in Bastar’s democratic journey, a region once dominated by Naxal influence. For the first time in decades, villagers in Sukma and Bijapur exercised their right to vote without fear, embracing democracy with renewed confidence.
CM Vishnu Deo Sai hailed this as a significant victory for the people, emphasizing that Bastar has chosen the path of progress over violence. He attributed this shift to the unwavering commitment of both the central and state governments, ongoing developmental initiatives, and strengthened security measures.
“This election is more than just a voting process—it signifies a shift in public mindset. It reflects the people’s growing trust in governance and their firm belief in democracy,” he stated.
For the first time in years, Naxal factions did not resist the elections, a stark departure from past disruptions caused by insurgent threats. This change is largely credited to the establishment of over 40 new security camps and the government’s strategic efforts to build confidence among local communities.
Record Voter Turnout in Naxal-Affected Areas
Beyond Bastar, high voter participation was observed in districts like Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Dantewada, and Gariaband. Villages in Bijapur, such as Pusnar, Gangaloor, Cherpal, and Palnar—previously considered Naxal strongholds—witnessed unprecedented turnout, showcasing a growing political awareness and rejection of fear.
Bastar Moves Towards a Naxal-Free Future
CM Vishnu Deo Sai reaffirmed that the fight against Naxalism in Bastar is entering its decisive phase. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the government aims to make Chhattisgarh completely Naxal-free by March 2026.
To uplift the region, the government is prioritizing large-scale investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment. Extensive development projects, including roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and livelihood programs, are actively being implemented to rebuild public trust and ensure lasting progress.
A New Era for Bastar
CM Vishnu Deo Saii declared that Bastar is witnessing a new dawn—one where ballots replace bullets, and democracy prevails over violence. He credited this transformation to the courage of the people, the sacrifices of security forces, and the government’s unwavering commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Chhattisgarh.
CM Vishnu Deo Sai further emphasized that every citizen plays a vital role in shaping the democratic future of the state. The peaceful elections in Naxal-affected areas send a strong message that the people of Chhattisgarh are reclaiming their rights and rejecting fear.
“This election is a testament to the resilience of the people. Chhattisgarh’s citizens are no longer bound by fear—they are aware of their rights, understand their responsibilities, and are determined to build a future rooted in democracy and development,” CM Sai affirmed.
