CM Vishnu Deo Sai : ‘Swastha Mata-Tandurust Bachcha’ campaign launched in collaboration with IIT Bombay to make Jashpur district malnutrition-free

Emphasising the vital role of maternal and child health in the state’s prosperity, CM Vishnu Deo Sai launched the ‘Swastha Mata-Tandurust Bachcha’ campaign, a joint initiative with IIT Bombay, aimed at eradicating malnutrition in Jashpur district on January 15. The campaign introduced by Jashpur Poshan Mission in collaboration with IIT Bombay was inaugurated at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office in Bagia on January 15. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai highlighted that the health and well-being of mothers and children are essential pillars for the state’s development.

“Healthy mothers and children will be the foundation of the state’s progress and prosperity. This initiative reflects our commitment to creating a malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh,” he stated. The campaign will be implemented collaboratively by the Health Department and the Women & Child Development Department. It will focus on improving the nutrition and health of pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under six years old. The key components of the campaign include promoting breastfeeding, nutritional diets, and supplementary nutrition programs. More than 9,500 ASHA workers in the district have been trained online through IIT Bombay to deliver targeted nutritional support. Additionally, over 300 master trainers will provide ongoing training to field workers in the district, ensuring the program’s effectiveness.

CM Vishnu Deo Sai  praised the initiative for its potential to increase awareness about health and nutrition while directly addressing malnutrition. “This campaign will empower mothers with the knowledge of proper nutrition, ensuring their children grow up physically and mentally healthy,” he added.

The ‘Swastha Mata-Tandurust Bachcha’ campaign underscores the state’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more prosperous future for its citizens by tackling one of the most pressing public health challenges.
