It is noteworthy that social worker Basant Sahu has been awarded the Helen Keller Award for the unique work he has done to protect the rights of the disabled and provide equal opportunities in the society., He has kept the folk art, traditions and social issues of Chhattisgarh alive through his art. His paintings include Chhattisgarhi folk dance, traditional costumes and contemporary problems of the society. Basant’s paintings have been collected at various important places in the country and abroad, which include Rashtrapati Bhavan, Raj Bhavan, Delhi Museum in India and many countries including USA, England, Australia. His art has won him respect not only in Chhattisgarh, but also in the country and abroad.
Basant Sahu never allowed disability to become a hindrance in his path to success.
