Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that Gorakhpur has come at the fourth position in the entire country in the category of 3 lakh to 10 lakh population in the cleanliness survey of India. In the last three years, we have moved from 74th to 22nd and then from 22nd to 4th position. That’s a big achievement. It also inspires that we can also come first in our category. Our next competition is to come in the top three. We need to prepare for that.
CM Yogi was speaking at the Safai Mitra Surakshit Shehar Samman at Municipal Corporation Complex, Gorakhpur today. On this occasion, he felicitated the councillors and safai mitras selected under the Swachh Ward Competition by the Municipal Corporation Gorakhpur. He distributed symbolic cheques of financial assistance from the Safai Mitra Welfare Fund. He flagged off 12 sanitation vehicles of the Municipal Corporation. The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 177 projects worth Rs 253 crore for the development of Gorakhpur district.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated and inspected the Urban Flood Management Cell and Early Warning System. He also reviewed the model of Integrated Solid Waste Management System being built at Suthni Bhiti Rawat. On this occasion, short films based on the cleanliness campaign of Gorakhpur and the first Urban Flood Management Cell of Uttar Pradesh were screened.
The Chief Minister said that today is the special day of Shivaratri in the month of Shravan. We had set a target for the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation to bring Gorakhpur in the top-ten in India’s cleanliness survey. The team of Councillors, Sanitation Workers, Sanitation Committees, Supervisors and Officers have successfully brought Gorakhpur city to the fourth position. The Chief Minister congratulated all the officers and employees of Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation, including cleaners, councillors, Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and wished the people of the state on the occasion of Shivratri.
The Chief Minister said that earlier Gorakhpur was identified with mosquitoes, mafia, filth, diseases, anarchy, disorder, jams on roads and waterlogging in the rain.
Today all these problems are being solved one by one. In this sequence, this program has been organized. Earlier, Gorakhpur lacked basic facilities, but for the new Uttar Pradesh of new India, Gorakhpur has prepared itself and has shown itself to be the new Gorakhpur. When there is healthy competition to move forward, then this goal can be achieved. The people of Gorakhpur city have made their positive contribution in the development works. All the metropolitan people gave priority to the development of the district at 3 places of their own, as a result of which the roads of Gorakhpur were widened and the drainage was improved.
The Chief Minister said that the Urban Flood Management Cell has been inaugurated here. Now information about any kind of encroachment and drain jam will be done through technology. Gorakhpur city has taken a step towards realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolve of a developed India by achieving the goal of cleanliness with the use of technology and teamwork. A developed India will be only when we move towards modernity in sanitation, health, development works, modern facilities, technology and people’s amenities and realize the concept of holistic development.
Today’s event is very important in view of Gorakhpur’s role in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s resolve to make a developed India in 2047.
The Chief Minister said that Sanitation Committees are working in all the wards of Gorakhpur. Councillors are providing leadership to their wards. Some councillors have been felicitated here so that a healthy competition can be pursued. There needs to be healthy competition among wards at the zonal level. The best performing councillors and Sanitation Committees in the competition should also be felicitated. Similarly, there should be healthy competition at the metropolitan level. There should be incentives for good work. The sanitation committees in the metropolitan cities should go door-to-door to make the public aware and motivate them not to throw the garbage of their houses on the road.
The Chief Minister said that our people’s representatives are also joining the cleanliness programs and making them aware not to use single-use plastic and not to throw garbage in public places. Today, under the Safai Mitra Surakshit Shehar Samman Samaroh, sanitation workers who have contributed to achieving the goal of making Gorakhpur clean have also been honoured. When a teamwork is done, we have been successful in achieving this goal.
“We are moving fast on the path of development.
When development works take place, people suffer, but when they are completed, they also get the benefit of its facilities. In this series, projects worth Rs 253 crore have been inaugurated and foundation stone laid here today. These include the inauguration of Animal Birth Control Centre (ABCC). With this centre, the residents of the city will get rid of street dogs, monkeys and other animals. Urban Flood Management Cell and Early Warning System have also been inaugurated here. This cell will be useful in solving the problem of waterlogging within the city and in efficient monitoring of other drains including Goddhoiya Nallah being constructed in Gorakhpur.
The Chief Minister said that a digital library has been inaugurated in the premises of the Municipal Corporation. Former councillors of the corporation should also be connected to this library. Ramgarh lake has emerged as a new center of tourism. The works done at a cost of Rs 35.41 crore under Phase-2 for the beautification of Ramgarh Tal have also been dedicated. The money for development comes from people’s taxes. This money should be put to good use. There should be no compromise on the quality of development works. The Chief Minister congratulated the people of the city for the inauguration and foundation stone laying of 177 development projects of Gorakhpur.
On this occasion, MLA Najar Singh Manshahia, DC Mohinderpal, SDM Sagar Setia, Chairman Zila Parishad Bikram Mofar, Chairman Market Committee Gian Chand Singla, Kulwant Rai Singla, Ranjit Kaur Bhatti and Chairman Block Samiti Karamjit Kaur were also present.
The projects include Uttar Pradesh’s first Urban Flood Management Cell and Early Warning System set up in the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation premises, beautification of Ramgarhtal (Phase-2), Animal Birth Control Centre at Gulharia and Digital Library in the Municipal Corporation premises. The works include construction of roads, drains and drains in various wards, construction of internal roads, drains and sewers in the premises of Waste Processing City in Sutni, construction of zonal office in Transport Nagar and Ranidiha, beautification of Lal Diggi Park, construction of 75-bed working women’s hostel in Siktaur, global complex and co-working space at Transport Nagar intersection, road widening and strengthening work from Nakha overbridge main road to Ramjanki Nagar intersection via Harhawa Phatak road.
