CM Yogi Adityanath said the biggest strength of democracy is dialogue and free expression of ideas. When the expression is presented in the House within the limits of propriety, nothing can be bigger than this. In Uttar Pradesh, which is the most populous state in the country, the budget for the year 2025-26 is being discussed in the Upper House, in which about 50 members are participating. Members of the ruling and opposition parties have presented their views on the budget, which is a great example of democracy.
This year is particularly significant as Mahakumbh-2025 has been a historic event for the people of not only the state but also the entire country and the world, CM Yogi Adityanath said during the budget discussion in the Legislative Council. The event became a global attraction due to its grandeur and cultural significance. He said that every person’s thoughts and feelings may be different, but it is not right to impose them on anyone.
Many organizations and people were making uncharitable statements about the Mahakumbh, but the government fulfilled its responsibility by organizing the Kumbh successfully without paying attention to them. Experts gave their views on spiritual, social, national integration and economic aspects of the event. The Chief Minister said that the true experience of Kumbh can only be done by those who have been present there and seen its grandeur. Referring to Srimad Bhagavad Gita, he said, “Lord Krishna has said that the way a person looks, that is how he experiences creation.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that this was the first Kumbh, which was appreciated by the global media. Reputed institutions like The Wall Street Journal, BBC London, The New York Times and CNN praised its grandeur. UNESCO Director Tim Curtis also attended the Kumbh and recognised it as a cultural heritage.
CM Yogi Adityanath referred to an article by noted critic Sudhish Pachauri, in which he wrote that society moves forward on the basis of its experiences. During the 45 days, crores of devotees took the dip of faith with discipline and reverence, which reveals the characteristics of India’s Sanatan culture. He said that more than 66 crore devotees reached Prayagraj and no crime was committed during this period, which is a great example of social discipline.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the Mahakumbh has given the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ to the world and showed that the Hindu society is united. He said some people were trying to discourage the Kumbh but the public responded by participating in large numbers.
Talking about the Namami Gange project, CM Yogi Adityanath said that before 2014, questions were being raised about the inviolability of the Ganga. Kanpur’s Sisamau nullah, where crores of litres of sewage used to fall into the Ganga every day, has now turned into a ‘selfie point’ and no more dirt falls into the Ganga.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the western countries who preach us about environmental protection do not see their old deeds. But for Sanatan Dharma in India, the Ganges is still sacred. In the tests of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, the water of the Ganga has also met the standards, which makes it clear that our river culture maintains cleanliness. This is the basis of our life.
