Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conferred the Gorakhpur Ratna award to five eminent personalities who have made a mark in the field of sports, science, medicine, art and agriculture.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that the purpose behind the festival is to connect with its tradition. We should not forget our traditions. In the absence of culture, a nation cannot carry forward its life story for a long time. Folk tales, folk traditions are the lifeblood of a nation. Through the medium of the festival, folk traditions, folk songs, folk songs, folk artists get a platform. With their talent, they can give information about folk traditions to the present generation and take them forward, this is the purpose behind the festival.
CM Yogi Adityanath was addressing the closing ceremony of Gorakhpur Mahotsav-2025 in Gorakhpur district today. He said that 12th January is also the holy birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, who established the spiritual and cultural image of India on the global stage, the spiritual heritage of India, the Vedic traditions of Sanatan Dharma. At the same time, we all are getting an opportunity to connect with the Gorakhpur Mahotsav. On the occasion, he conferred Gorakhpur Ratna to five eminent personalities who have distinguished themselves in the fields of sports, science, medicine, art and agriculture. He visited the book fair, Swami Vivekananda, development and science exhibitions and gave away prizes to the winners of the science exhibition.Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released the souvenir of Gorakhpur Mahotsav. The Chief Minister was honoured with a memento by the Gorakhpur Mahotsav Committee.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the tradition of the Vedas is in prose and verse. The music of India is in the tradition of the Vedas. There is also singing in the Samaveda and this tradition of singing is part of the heritage of thousands of years. Along with encompassing all the disciplines of singing, playing, dancing, the festival aims to contribute to the local youth, artists, artisan, farmers and entrepreneurs and society, encourage them, provide them a platform, inspire them to move forward. All these programs went on simultaneously and taking the series of that program forward, the Gorakhpur Mahotsav has reached new heights of success this time also like the last 7 consecutive years since 2018.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the name Gorakhpur indicates that this is the holy place of Mahayogi Lord Gorakhnath. Gorakhpur is an important land of religious and spiritual tradition of India. At the same time, it is also a major center of religious literature of India through Gita Press since 1923. Near Gorakhpur itself in Kushinagar the Mahaparinirvana place of Lord Buddha and Maghar the Nirvana place of Saint Kabirdas are also there. Near Gorakhpur there are many symbolic places of ancient heritage of India. Famous as Katha Samrat, Munshi Premchandra had made Gorakhpur his work place. Firaq Gorakhpuri made his birthplace Gorakhpur proud. Swami Yoganand Paramhans, who spread the spiritual heritage of India on the global stage, was born in this Gorakhpur. Gorakhpur is the birth and work place of Shaheed Bandhu Singh, who shook the British rule in the first war of independence in 1857. In the same district Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil was given death sentence for Kakori train action in the freedom movement of the country.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that Gorakhpur started its journey of development as a small city, which is today setting new paradigms of development by emerging as a strong metropolis of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The government makes development, it is the responsibility of all of us to be a partner in the journey of that development. In continuation of the same participation, Gorakhpur Gaurav Ratna has been awarded this time to 5 selected dignitaries in different fields, who have brought laurels to Gorakhpur in the state, the country and the world. By associating with the program of the last 3 days, all the artists, dignitaries have become symbols of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. He has contributed to take the Gorakhpur Mahotsav to the heights of success.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that for the first time in this festival, the National Book Trust has also organized a book fair for the youth. Bring the books to your friends. On the birthdays of your children, gift them books according to their interests, which will contribute to their mental development. The tradition of reading and writing is declining. All of us should encourage reading by buying books through book fairs.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that a 45-day divine and grand Mahakumbh is starting in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, 2025. More than 40 lakh people are expected to attend the event. The third largest population of the world will witness this mega event. It will be a confluence of India’s tradition, culture and spirituality. A corridor has also been made for the devotees coming to Mahakumbh for the first time. In Prayagraj, Akshayvat Corridor, Saraswati Koop Corridor, Patalpuri Corridor, Bade Hanuman Ji Mandir Corridor, Maharishi Bharadwaj Rishi Mandir Corridor and Shringverpur Corridor, the meeting place of Lord Shri Ram and Nishad Raj, have been built. Along with the work of beautification of Nagavasuki Ghat and temples, there will be an opportunity to see the twelve Jyotirlingas.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated all the participants of the Mahakumbh. This will provide an opportunity to everyone to connect with their tradition, culture and heritage. This Mahakumbh will be held in an area of 10 thousand acres. In Prayagraj, 25 lakh devotees have taken bath in the Sangam yesterday and 35 lakh devotees are expected to reach Prayagraj today. Member of Parliament Shri Ravi Kishan also addressed the programme. Minister of State for Rural Development Smt.Vijay Lakshmi Gautam, Public Representatives and Advisor to Chief Minister Shri Awanish Kumar Awasthi along with senior officers of the administration were present on the occasion.
