CM Yogi Adityanath : Necessary guidelines related to road safety were given to all departments

CM Yogi Adityanath ji chaired the meeting of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Safety Council at his official residence here today. On this occasion, he gave necessary guidelines related to road safety to all the departments. He said that the district road safety committees should complete the meeting under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate by January 05, 2025 at any cost. Awareness programs related to road safety rules should be organized in all schools and colleges from January 06 to 10, 2025The number of PRD and Home Guards should be increased for better traffic management in Maha Kumbh.
The Chief Minister said that 23-25 thousand deaths in road accidents every year are a loss to the country and the state. These accidents happen due to lack of awareness. Road Safety Month should not be limited to Lucknow only, but it should be conducted smoothly in all the 75 districts of the state.Apart from this, a road safety meeting should be held every month in all districts under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate, in which the Superintendent of Police/Senior Superintendent of Police, Municipal Commissioner, RTO, PWD officers, District School Inspector, Basic Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer etc. should be present. Every third month, the progress of the work done at the district level should be evaluated at the government level. Identify those districts and places where more accidents are likely. While finding out the reasons, An action plan should be made to solve this problem. Special attention needs to be paid to ensure that minors are not able to operate e-rickshaws and other vehicles. The process of registration of e-rickshaws should be done smoothly.
The Chief Minister said that signage should be mandatorily installed on the roads so that people can have ease of movement. CM Yogi Adityanath said that overloading will not be tolerated at all.It should be stopped at the starting point itself. Loaded vehicles are also parked on expressways and highways, which cause accidents. These vehicles should be removed through cranes. People should be motivated by running awareness programmes to adopt helmets, seat belts and other road safety standards.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that if a vehicle is repeatedly challaned, action should be taken to cancel the license/permit etc. This action should be compulsorily linked to Fastag.The departments related to information, transport and road safety should put up hoardings appealing people to follow traffic rules. These should also be put up outside all 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 1500 police stations and all municipal bodies.Passersby/common people should be made aware that they should not run away after seeing an accident, but should take the injured to the nearest hospital or trauma center within the golden hour. Minimize the response time of ambulances.
The Chief Minister said that Road Safety Parks should be built in every district on the lines of Road Safety Clubs in schools and colleges. By connecting school children with Road Safety Awareness programmes, dramas, music, poetry, essays, seminars, speeches, general knowledge competitions should be organised on topics related to traffic rules.CM Yogi Adityanath said that regular health check-up of the drivers of the buses of the Transport Corporation should be done compulsorily. The fitness of the buses should also be taken care of. Vending zones should be created in every body to accommodate hawkers. Illegal stands should not be set up anywhere on the roads, space should be created for them. Modified silencers and horns should be banned from bikes to curb noise pollution.Illegal operation of buses causes accidents. Non-contracted buses should be registered and given fixed routes. This will improve connectivity and provide convenience to the common people.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Brajesh Pathak, Urban Development Minister Shri Arvind Kumar Sharma, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Shri Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State for Basic Education (Independent Charge) Shri Sandeep Singh and senior officers of various departments were present.
