CM Yogi Adityanath : The annual capacity of this plant is 80,000 tonnes, which will benefit the farmers.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that for the first time in the country, the bhoomi pujan of a bioplastic-linked PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) plant is being done by Balrampur Chini Mills Limited at Kumbhi, Lakhimpur Kheri today. Terming the occasion as historic, he said that while the grandeur of Mahakumbh is visible in Prayagraj, a new era of investment is beginning in Kumbh.
The project, being set up at a cost of Rs 2,850 crore, is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and Balrampur Chini Mills Limited. This is the first investment of its kind in the country. The Chief Minister said that the setting up of this plant will increase the income of farmers and provide employment opportunities to the youth. At the same time, this initiative is an important step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” campaign.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that the plant would also help in environment conservation with a production capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum. Other companies used to make bioplastics by importing poly lactic acid, but this will be the first unit to manufacture it itself and make various products like bottles, cups, glasses and cans. It will be completely organic and recyclable, which is a major initiative towards environmental protection.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that in view of the problem of global warming and environmental pollution, the development of such technologies is necessary. No harmful waste from this plant will go to water sources, making it environment friendly. The state government is fully supporting this project and is also encouraging other investors in this sector.
He called upon Balrampur Chini Mills Limited to tie up with ITIs, Polytechnics and Colleges for skill development of local youth so that they can get better employment opportunities in the region.
An investment-friendly environment has been created in the state, as a result of which investment proposals worth more than Rs 45 lakh crore have been received so far, out of which projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore have already been grounded. This has provided employment to more than 60 lakh youth and this number will increase further in the coming times.
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Excise Minister Nitin Agarwal, Minister of State for Sugarcane Development Sanjay Singh Gangwar, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary Veena Kumari Meena, CMD Balrampur Chini Mills Limited Vivek Saraogi, Executive Director Avantika Saraogi and others.
