CM Yogi Adityanath said that with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cooperative movement in the country is moving towards new heights. For the first time in India, the Ministry of Cooperation has been formed, and its leadership was handed over to the popular Home Minister of the country, Shri Amit Shah ji. Today the cooperative movement is reaching every village, poor, farmers, youth and every section of the society.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a function to mark the launch of ‘International Year of Cooperatives-2025’ at his official residence here today. On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated two warehouses of Uttar Pradesh State Warehousing Corporation under Private Entrepreneur Guarantee Scheme with a capacity of 15,000 MT at Manjhanpur, District Kaushambi and 5,000 MT at Hariharpur, District Sultanpur. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also launched the ‘Run for Cooperation’ marathon under the International Year of Cooperatives-2025, in which a large number of youth participated.
The Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of 75 years of the Republic of India and said that all the known and unknown freedom fighters and revolutionaries including Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar sacrificed everything for the freedom of the country. While the entire country is celebrating 75 years of the Constitution, on the other hand, we are launching the International Year of Cooperatives-2025 in Lucknow today, which is very important for the state.
The Chief Minister further said that the Mahakumbh of this century in Prayagraj is a great example of cooperation. Today, on Republic Day, 2.5-3 crore devotees have reached Prayagraj Mahakumbh to take bath, and all the arrangements there are running on auto mode with mutual cooperation. This is the true form of cooperation. Cooperatives are part of Indian society, and if we have to make a self-reliant India, we have to make cooperatives a part of our lives.
The Chief Minister also said that the cooperative movement in the state has grown in a positive direction in the last few years. Important steps have been taken towards the revival of cooperative societies, development of villages and efforts towards self-reliance of farmers as well as reconstruction of district cooperative banks. The PACS units have been linked to digitalization, and the limit has been fixed at Rs 10 lakh, which the government is considering to increase. If it is linked to digital payments, farmers and workers will benefit a lot from it. Every PACS associated with the cooperative movement will get an opportunity to be a part of this benefit, which will be the biggest achievement of today’s time. We have to continue this campaign.
The Chief Minister said that we have to take steps towards the construction of warehouses in every village, just as every Gram Panchayat of Uttar Pradesh is moving towards becoming self-reliant. A model shop is being built in every Gram Panchayat, which was earlier known as Fair Price Shop. The Prime Minister had directed to develop these fair price shops as model shops, and we implemented it, as well as adopted technical solutions. Essential items of daily use can now be sold in these model shops. Along with this, a warehouse has also been arranged, which is providing employment to 5 to 7 persons in each Gram Panchayat. Through this system, we can inspire the youth to move forward. It is very important to store the products within the village. Today, warehouses with storage capacity of 15,000 MT at Kaushambi and 5,000 MT at Sultanpur are being inaugurated. Along with this, it is necessary to build warehouses at the block and gram panchayat level as well.
The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Cooperation, Shri J. P. S. Rathore also spoke on the occasion. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included MLAs Mr Amrik Singh Dhillon, Mr Kuldip Singh Vaid and Mr Lakhbir Singh Lakha, former minister Mr Malkit Singh Dakha, former MP Mr Amrik Singh Aliwal, Chairman Mr KK Bawa, Chairman Mr Amarjit Singh Tikka, District Congress Committee (Rural) president Mr Karanjit Singh Soni Galib, DCC (Urban) president Mr Ashwani Sharma, District Youth Congress president Mr Rajiv Raja, PEDA vice chairman Mr Karan Waring, Zila Parishad member Mr Gurdev Singh Lapran, PPCC general secretary Mr Harkesh Chand Sharma, Councillor Mr Harkaran Singh Vaid, Mr Kamil Boparai, Mr Anand Sarup Singh Mohi, besides several others.
