Local requirements should be kept in mind while preparing the road construction project.

Timeliness and quality is a mandatory condition for every project, in case of faults, the responsibility of everyone from the JE to the Chief Engineer will be fixed

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the progress of various projects of the Public Works Department in an important meeting convened at his official residence here today. He gave necessary directions regarding ensuring timeliness and quality in construction works.

The Chief Minister said that local requirements should be kept in mind while preparing the road construction project. Timeliness and quality is an essential condition for every project, it cannot be compromised. In case of a malfunction, the responsibility of everyone from the JE to the Chief Engineer will be fixed. If the rules of the agreement are violated, the contractor / firm will be blacklisted and strict action will be taken. Petty contractor / sublet arrangement should not be accepted. The Chief Minister said that along with the finalization of the DPR, the date of commencement and completion of the work should be ensured and it should be strictly followed. There will be no shortage of funds. Third party audit of completed works should also be done. Before giving approval to roads and bridges or other construction projects related to the general public, its public importance must be assessed. Balance is the key to development. Examine the need first, decide the priority. After this, the construction of any road or bridge should be approved on the basis of merit. All 75 districts benefited from the development works.

The Chief Minister said that under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Tehsil / Block Headquarters Scheme, the work of connecting all the tehsils / block headquarters of the state with district headquarters with minimum two-lane roads should be completed expeditiously. Not a single tehsil or block is untouched by it. The work of constructing a grand ‘Maitri Gate’ on the inter-state and international border of the state should be completed expeditiously. Where there is unavailability of land, the local administration should be contacted immediately. Friendships should be built at the border. It should be attractive, the lighting should also be good here. As on date, 96 entry gates are completed / under construction. The process of construction of entry gates on the remaining roads should be completed as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister said that the roads of the Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department are now being constructed by the Public Works Department. This is a matter related to the interest of farmers and traders, give it priority. There should be no gaps here. At present about 6000 km of roads are to be reconstructed / widened / strengthened. They should be made using FDR technology. There will be no shortage of funds for this.

The Chief Minister said that the roads are being constructed / widened to ensure that there are good roads on the religiously important routes and facilitate the movement of tourists / devotees. In this, places of religious, historical, mythological importance of all sects, including Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Valmiki, Ravidasi, Kabirpanthi of every district should be added. The route should be selected in accordance with the standard. Based on the proposal received from the people’s representatives, it should be completed in time with the help of the Department of Charitable Affairs and the concerned District Magistrate.

The Chief Minister said that the spirit of environmental protection should be fully taken care of in road construction / widening / strengthening works. No unnecessary trees should be cut. The protection of trees in the middle of the road must be included in the road construction plan. The Deoria-Barhaj road needs to be strengthened. Prepare a proposal in this regard.

The Chief Minister said that the Industrial Development Department, MSME and Bioenergy Department are working on projects of great importance like Defence Corridor, Industrial Logistics Park, Industrial Area and Pledge Park Scheme. The selected routes should be connected to the four-lane route as far as possible to reach these industrial areas. State roads which are presently two-lane and less than two-lane wide should be constructed with a minimum width of two-lane with paved shoulder as per public importance.
