UP CM Yogi Adityanath distributes Anganwadi Workers Smartphones and essential equipment to boost real-time data collection and improve child health monitoring.
In a major initiative to strengthen child development services, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday distributed 69,794 Anganwadi Workers Smartphones to Anganwadi staff across the state. Alongside smartphones, the CM also handed out 1,33,282 stadiometers, 10,553 infantometers, and 58,237 weighing machines to support accurate monitoring of child growth and nutrition.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi congratulated newly appointed workers and highlighted that the distribution of Anganwadi Workers Smartphones aims to improve real-time data collection, strengthen service delivery, and enhance accountability. “For the past four years, I have been insisting that every Anganwadi worker must possess a smartphone. Without real-time data, we were unable to track their hard work accurately, which affected our rankings. Providing Anganwadi Workers Smartphones ensures timely data uploads and efficient monitoring,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized the expanding role of Anganwadi workers and stated that the government is equipping them with modern tools and facilities to enhance efficiency and outreach. “As your responsibilities increase, it is vital that you are provided with the necessary digital infrastructure. Anganwadi Workers Smartphones will transform centers into digital service hubs,” CM Yogi added.

Taking a dig at previous administrations, Yogi revealed that before 2017, the distribution of nutritional supplements was managed by individuals linked to the liquor mafia. “Nutritional supplies were mismanaged and often did not reach the children who needed them. The quality was extremely poor, contributing to UP’s poor performance in child development indices,” he said.
With the deployment of Anganwadi Workers Smartphones, the government aims to ensure accurate and timely reporting of data, improving the performance of centers and boosting governance outcomes. CM Yogi also announced plans to enhance honorarium payments, emphasizing that if an Anganwadi center is ‘smart,’ workers’ honorariums should also be ‘smart’ and dignified.
Further, the CM revealed that a new corporation for outsourced personnel will be set up from April to ensure transparency and eliminate exploitation in recruitment and wage disbursement. “Earlier, many outsourcing agencies were linked to politicians or middlemen, who siphoned off funds. Workers received far less than allocated amounts. With the new system, salaries will reach employees directly, without intermediaries,” he said.
In conclusion, CM Yogi reiterated that the state government stands firmly behind Anganwadi workers. “These Anganwadi Workers Smartphones symbolize our commitment to supporting your vital work and ensuring that every aspect of child development and monitoring is handled efficiently and transparently,” he added.
