CM Yogi : The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University in Gorakhpur built at a cost of Rs 268 crore. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present on the occasion.
In his address, the President described Guru Gorakhnath as the most influential saint of India after Adi Guru Shankaracharya and described Gorakhpur as a land of yoga, sadhana and patriotism. He said that the Nath tradition has served humanity not only in India but also abroad. Referring to the role of Gita Press, he described it as a great medium for propagation of Indian culture.
The President said that India’s traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and Naturopathy are not only scientific but also extremely relevant today. He said that this university will provide high level AYUSH education, research and employment oriented courses. The institution is associated with more than 100 AYUSH colleges, and aims to move towards international standards in the field of medical education and service.
Appreciating the vision and development of this Ayush University by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said that it will prove to be a milestone in the field of health and education not only for Uttar Pradesh, but for the entire country.
Governor Anandiben Patel said that this university will provide new employment opportunities to farmers and youth in the field of traditional medicine.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this university will not only impart education in disciplines like Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Yoga, but it will also emerge as a major center of health tourism. Ayush colleges will be set up in six mandals of the state and health wellness centres will be set up in each district, he said.
The Minister of State for AYUSH, Dr. Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’ said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, AYUSH disciplines are being continuously promoted in the state, making the sector more accessible and effective for the general public.
State Agriculture, Jal Shakti and Fisheries Minister, local MP Shri Ravi Kishan Shukla, and other officials and public representatives were also present on the occasion.
