Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said that the state government’s efforts are ensuring employment opportunities for youth within their own districts.
CM Yogi : Through the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), the government is expanding prospects for development and jobs in Gorakhpur. He emphasized that the administration is serving the people with dedication, and the results are clearly visible. Today, GIDA has received investment projects worth ₹2,251 crore. Before 2017, investment in GIDA and eastern Uttar Pradesh was just a dream, but now large-scale proposals are coming not only for Gorakhpur but also for other districts.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a program held in Gorakhpur’s GIDA Industrial Area, after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development projects worth ₹2,251 crore. On this occasion, he distributed allotment letters for plots under GIDA’s housing and industrial schemes, performed the bhoomi pujan of Amrit Bottling Plant of the SLMG group, and inaugurated Technoplast Packaging Pvt. Ltd. at the Plastic Park. He also inspected the factory’s packaging and operational systems.
He informed that a new enterprise worth ₹120 crore has been inaugurated at the Plastic Park, with Technoplast Packaging Pvt. Ltd. investing in plastic packaging. The workforce here includes people from Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, Ayodhya, Jaunpur, and surrounding districts. Earlier, youth from the state struggled for recognition and had to wander across the country and abroad in search of jobs.
CM Yogi highlighted that industries are now being established with a focus on eco-friendly investment. A CETP (Common Effluent Treatment Plant) is being set up in Gorakhpur to ensure waste from industries does not pollute the Ami and Rapti rivers. Additionally, a skill development program of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET) is being launched on a 5-acre land parcel within the Plastic Park, where local youth can pursue diploma and degree courses in plastics and find employment locally, as well as globally.
He said projects worth ₹281 crore related to roads, drainage, street lighting, and electricity have also been launched in GIDA. Amrit Bottlers Pvt. Ltd. will set up a bottling plant at a cost of ₹700 crore, creating thousands of jobs. Three new units worth ₹120 crore—Technoplast Packaging Pvt. Ltd., Omflex Industries Pvt. Ltd., and Gajanan Polyplast—were inaugurated at the Plastic Park. Furthermore, investments worth ₹640 crore are being made by APL Apollo Tubes Ltd., Greentech Bharat Pvt. Ltd., and Kapila Krishi Udyog, generating over 1,200 jobs.
The CM also handed over allotments under the Kalesar Housing Scheme, developed on 110 acres with an investment of ₹400 crore, and completed industrial land allotments to companies like Ambuja Cement, Keyaan Distillery, and Ashok Rubber Board. This has brought in fresh investments worth ₹5,903 crore, which will create 10,000 jobs.
He announced that Gorakhpur will soon have a Skill Development Centre and a Delhi Public School campus. Major industries such as Gallant Ispat and Jalan Group have already been established in GIDA, while Ambuja Cement, Keyaan Distillery, Varun Beverages, India Auto Wheel, APL Apollo Tubes, SD International, Greentech Bharat Pvt. Ltd., CP Milk Food Products, Rungta Industries, and Novamax Cooler have successfully invested. New investments are also coming in medical devices, plywood, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors.
According to the CM, investment thrives in an environment of security. With investment comes jobs and prosperity, which pave the way for overall growth. Thanks to the government’s clear policies, transparent approach, and commitment to safety, Uttar Pradesh is attracting world-class investments. The investment-friendly atmosphere has helped connect over 60 lakh youth with employment.
He further mentioned that over 60,000 police personnel have been recruited recently, including many from Gorakhpur, who are currently undergoing training to strengthen security in the state. More than 2,500 chief sevikas have been appointed in the Women and Child Development Department, and a new recruitment drive for sub-inspectors has been launched. The aim of all development programs, he said, is to bring happiness to every citizen and provide safety to daughters and entrepreneurs.
The CM also highlighted that the southern belt of Gorakhpur, once neglected, now has four-lane connectivity, and new industries such as a cement factory in Dhuriapar and a Coca-Cola bottling plant will soon come up. Plastic products and textiles will be manufactured at GIDA in large-scale factories. The government has set a goal of establishing Employment Zones named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in every district, each on 100 acres, to provide skill-based, interest-oriented jobs to youth.
He stressed that all these efforts are being carried out in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. Under the double-engine government of the Centre and the state, the roadmap for a new, self-reliant India is being realized. For India to be developed, Uttar Pradesh must progress, and for that, every district—including Gorakhpur—must advance.
The CM noted that the state assembly recently held a continuous 24-hour session on August 13–14, entirely dedicated to discussions on development. Under the Developed Uttar Pradesh/2047 campaign, over 300 intellectuals, retired IAS/IPS officers, academicians, and scientists will visit every district, village, and institution to hold programs. Conferences will be organized with the support of central and state ministers, and public suggestions will also be invited through QR codes. The new investments announced at GIDA today are part of this broader mission.
The event was also addressed by Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi.” Among those present were MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Gorakhpur Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, MLAs Pradeep Shukla, Vipin Singh, Mahendra Pal Singh, Rajesh Tripathi, Shravan Nishad, Legislative Council member Dr. Dharmendra Singh, and State Women’s Commission Vice-Chairperson Charu Chaudhary, along with other dignitaries.
