Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath today directed the concerned departments to take prompt and coordinated action in view of the possible threat of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu). He said that the safety of protected animals and birds is the top priority of the state government and negligence at any level would not be acceptable.
CM Yogi said that security measures should be further strengthened in all zoos, bird sanctuaries, national parks, wetland areas and cow shelters in the state. He directed that all necessary steps in accordance with the guidelines of the Central and State Government be implemented with promptness.
CM Yogi said that all the zoological park premises should be regularly sanitized and the process of blow-touching should also be adopted if needed. Health check-up of all wild animals and birds should be done compulsorily and food should be provided only after thorough examination of their diet. The duty of the staff employed in the enclosures should be fixed keeping in view the level of risk, so that safety standards are fully complied with.
CM Yogi directed that all the employees should be given detailed information about the symptoms of avian influenza, the mode of infection and the measures to be taken to prevent it. The employees should be provided with PPE kits and other necessary safety equipment so that they can perform their duties safely.
CM Yogi said that keeping special focus on the poultry sector, all the poultry farms in the state should be strictly monitored as per the standards and constant control should be kept on the movement of poultry products. He directed the officials of the Health Department to conduct a thorough study of the possible effects of Avian Influenza on human health and submit a report so that no chain of infection can reach the human society.
CM Yogi directed to maintain constant communication with the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi, National Centre for Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Department of Fisheries and Dairying and other national institutions including Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izzatnagar (Bareilly) to ensure time-bound implementation of the suggestions received from these institutions.
CM Yogi said that timely coordinated and strict action will pave the way for effective control of possible infection of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu). All the concerned departments will have to work with mutual cooperation, coordination and quick information exchange to ensure the safety of the citizens and wildlife of the state.
