CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Green Hydrogen Plant of Torrent Group in Gorakhpur today. He said green energy will play an important role in health, environmental protection and prevention of serious diseases in the times to come. This is the first green hydrogen plant of Uttar Pradesh and the second in the country, which has been launched with the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Yogi said that the Prime Minister had given a call to work towards “Net Carbon Zero.” Under the Ujjwala Yojana, more than 10 crore families were provided free gas connections, which gave relief to people from smoke-related diseases. Recently, on Independence Day, the Prime Minister has announced a huge amount for the next phase of Ujjwala Yojana, which will control the price of cooking gas and the facility of PNG will reach the common man.
CM Yogi informed that Gorakhpur already has a CNG plant and now green hydrogen energy has also been added. The mixture of CNG and hydrogen will be made available in the form of cooking gas to households through pipeline. Torrent Group is providing this facility through PNG in 16 districts of the state and is also supplying electricity in Agra. Providing piped drinking water and gas is an ambitious scheme of the Prime Minister, which is strengthening the resolve of a developed India.
CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh is moving fast in the field of renewable energy. The state has a target of 22,000 MW, out of which 6,000 MW capacity has been installed so far. Solar energy is effective only during the day, while hydrogen energy is useful 24 hours a day and is the most important energy of the future. In the coming times, new technology and research will make this energy more affordable and widely available.
CM Yogi said that the adverse impact on environment and human health is due to exploitation of natural resources and excessive use of chemicals in agriculture. Cancer, liver diseases and climate change are increasing due to these reasons. As a solution, natural farming and green energy will have to be adopted. Natural farming will not only protect the bovines but will also provide safe and healthy food.
CM Yogi said that schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission and Har Ghar Shauchalaya have reduced diseases in the state. With cleanliness deadly diseases like encephalitis have also been eradicated. The use of LED in street lights has reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions.
CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh has immense potential for green energy and today Torrent Group in Gorakhpur has taken a big step in this direction. Blending hydrogen in CNG and PNG and delivering it to every household is a unique innovation that will give direction to the future energy system.
Member of Parliament Shri Ravi Kishan Shukla and Director of Torrent Group Shri Jinal Mehta also spoke on the occasion. Senior officials and public representatives were present on the occasion.
