Punjab CM Mann: In a healing touch to the family of young farmer Shubhkaran Singh who had attained martyrdom at Khanauri border, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced a government job for the sister of deceased along with financial assistance worth Rs 1 crore to the aggrieved family.
The Chief Minister described it as a humble gesture towards the family of the martyr, who was killed during ongoing protest at the Haryana border. He reiterated that the state government is solidly with the bereaved family in this hour of crisis and no stone will be left unturned for bailing out the family. Bhagwant Singh Mann assured fulsome support and cooperation to the family both socially and economically adding that it is the moral duty of the state government.
The Chief Minister reiterated the firm commitment of the state government to put the perpetrators of the gruesome murder of the young farmers behind the bars. He said that exemplary punishment to the guilty responsible for the death of the youth will be ensured. Bhagwant Singh Mann bemoaned that the young farmer fell prey to the ‘bullet of hatred’ when he was merely exercising his democratic right adding that the people responsible for this heinous crime deserve no leniency and will be duly punished for their sin.
The Chief Minister said that after investigation FIR will be registered against the people responsible for death of the youth and exemplary punishment to them will be ensured. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is fully with the food growers of the state who have been unduly stalled, by the forces inimical to the state, from going to the national capital for peaceful protest in wake of their genuine demands. He said that this is unjustified, unwarranted and intolerable as Punjabis are being targeted despite their immense contribution in the freedom struggle, making the country self-reliant in post-independence days and then safeguarding the borders of the country.
