Cocktail 2: Shahid Kapoor & Kriti Sanon to Headline
Shahid Kapoor is locked in as the male lead, bringing his charm and emotional depth to the film. Kriti Sanon, who has had a strong track record in both commercial and content-driven cinema, will star opposite him. The casting process for the second female lead is currently underway, and sources reveal that Rashmika Mandanna is the top contender for the role.
The original Cocktail starred Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty, and Saif Ali Khan, and became a defining film of its time with its stylish visuals, catchy soundtrack, and layered characters. The sequel is expected to retain the breezy yet emotional tone of the first while exploring new-age romantic dynamics.
Shooting Schedule and Locations

As per the latest updates, filming for Cocktail 2 will begin in August 2025. The production team is finalizing shooting schedules and locations, with some parts expected to be shot overseas, much like the original film which featured exotic locales in London and Cape Town. Pre-production is already underway, with casting and music development being prioritized in the lead-up to the shoot.
Music Album in the Works
One of the highlights of the original Cocktail was its soundtrack, which delivered chart-topping tracks like “Tumhi Ho Bandhu” and “Daaru Desi.” Dinesh Vijan is aiming to recreate the same magic for Cocktail 2, focusing on creating a chartbuster album that resonates with today’s youth.
“The music was a huge part of Cocktail‘s success, and this time is no different. Vijan is bringing on board top composers and lyricists to ensure the album becomes a cultural moment again,” a source close to the production revealed.
A Mid-2026 Release Target
The makers are currently targeting a mid-2026 theatrical release, which gives them ample time for filming, post-production, and promotional activities. With a strong team of actors and creators, Cocktail 2 is being positioned as one of the key romantic releases of next year.
