Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi Campaign 2026 has been launched to improve waste management and cleanliness across Delhi, with a ₹1 crore incentive for top-performing wards.
The Delhi government has launched the Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi Campaign 2026 to improve cleanliness, strengthen waste management and encourage citizens to take greater responsibility for keeping the capital clean. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the citywide campaign from the Delhi Municipal Corporation headquarters.
The cleanliness drive will run from August 17 to October 2 and will cover public places, schools, government hospitals, parks and public toilets across Delhi.
Waste Segregation at Source to Be a Priority
The Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi Campaign 2026 will focus on improving the entire waste management process, from collection to disposal. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said waste should be segregated at the point where it is generated.
She stressed that proper collection is equally important wherever waste is accumulated. The government also plans to ensure scientific disposal of waste after it reaches designated facilities.
According to the Chief Minister, immediate action should be taken whenever garbage or unhygienic conditions are noticed in public areas.
4Cs Approach for Better Waste Management
The campaign will follow a 4Cs approach comprising Collection, Cleaning, Conversion and Circular Economy. The objective is to improve the way waste is collected and processed while exploring ways to convert waste into useful resources.
The government plans to promote waste conversion, including efforts to turn suitable waste into green fuel. This approach is intended to reduce the burden on waste disposal systems and promote more sustainable waste management.
Citizens Asked to Follow ‘My City, My Responsibility’
The Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi Campaign 2026 places significant emphasis on public participation. CM Rekha Gupta appealed to residents to work with a ‘My City, My Responsibility’ mindset.
She also spoke about encouraging social media users and influencers to report garbage in their surroundings by tagging three representatives — the Delhi Chief Minister, the local MLA and the concerned councillor.
The Chief Minister said cleanliness cannot be treated as the responsibility of only the government or municipal workers. Every citizen has a role in maintaining a clean city.

Focus on the 3R Principle
The campaign will promote the 3R principle — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Citizens will be encouraged to reduce waste generation, reuse materials wherever possible and ensure recyclable waste reaches the appropriate recycling channels.
The campaign will also focus on reducing the use of single-use plastic and improving waste segregation at the source.
JJ Clusters and Parks to Get Special Attention
Special cleanliness drives will be conducted in JJ clusters on August 23 and 30, followed by additional drives on September 6 and 13.
The government has also planned a dedicated green waste removal drive in parks from September 1 to 10. Residents have been urged to help maintain cleanliness in public toilets, particularly through regular attention to these facilities on weekends.
Government Hospitals and Schools Included
The Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi Campaign 2026 will also extend to government healthcare and educational institutions. A special cleanliness programme will be conducted at government hospitals on September 17, with citizens encouraged to participate.
From September 17 to October 2, the ‘Mera School Sabse Sundar’ competition will focus on school cleanliness and maintenance. A ‘Zero Waste Campus Campaign’ will also be introduced for schools to encourage better waste management practices.
₹1 Crore Incentive for Best-Performing Wards
To encourage healthy competition among local areas, the government has announced an incentive of ₹1 crore for wards that perform exceptionally well in cleanliness-related work.
The Delhi Ko Kude Se Azadi Campaign 2026 aims to combine government action with public participation to create cleaner neighbourhoods and improve waste management across the capital.
The campaign will continue until October 2, with the government urging Delhi residents to make cleanliness a regular part of their daily lives rather than limiting it to a special drive.
