Rs 3,500 Crore Tunnel to Ease South Delhi-Dwarka Commute
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announced the Centre’s approval of a 5 km-long tunnel project connecting Shiv Murti–Mahipalpur on Dwarka Expressway to Nelson Mandela Road in Vasant Kunj. Constructed by NHAI at an estimated cost of ₹3,500 crore, the project will include two underground tubes, each with three lanes, and is scheduled to begin in 2026.
Once completed, the tunnel will provide a seamless route between South Delhi and Dwarka/Gurugram, helping reduce congestion on key routes like Rao Tula Ram Marg, Dhaula Kuan, Rangpuri, and NH-48. It will also improve connectivity with expressways such as NE-5, NH-44, NH-10, and the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway via UER and Dwarka Expressway.
