As the protest enters its fourth day, Delhi Water Minister Atishi declared that she would not end her hunger strike unless all 28 lakh people of Delhi received water.
Atishi, the water minister for Delhi, declared on Monday that she would not end her ongoing hunger strike until 28 lakh people in Delhi had access to water. As her strike entered its fourth day, she said that.
For the past three weeks, Delhi has received 100 MGD less water from the Haryana government. And I’ll keep up my indefinite fast till 28 lakh Delhiites get access to water.”
The water minister said that the BJP administration was withholding 46 crore litres, or 100 million gallons per day (MGD), of water that should have been given to Delhi’s 28 lakh residents, and accused Haryana of cutting off the city’s water supply.
According to Atishi, her health is deteriorating. She claimed that the hunger strike is causing her blood pressure and sugar levels to drop.
The doctor added, “The ketone level has significantly increased. The physician cautioned against a significant rise in the ketone level. It can impair one’s health and injure the body, the speaker stated.
On Sunday, an AAP delegation met with Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena of Delhi to discuss the situation. Among the ten members of the group were Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.
“We have asked LG, who represents the central government, to speak with the Haryana government and secure Delhi’s fair share of water.” On this, he has informed us that he will go to the Haryana government and attempt to obtain Delhi its full share of water,” Bharadwaj told
A counter-protest against the Delhi government was carried out earlier on Saturday by BJP members in front of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Office in Okhla.
The demonstrators opposing the AAP government were dispersed by the Delhi police using water cannons.
Former Member of Parliament for South Delhi for the BJP, Ramesh Bidhuri, spearheaded the protest.
