West Vihar in Delhi is set for a major infrastructural overhaul as Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta approved development projects worth ₹500 crore during her extensive inspection of the region on Friday. The approvals, given during a visit to various key locations under the Shakur Basti Assembly constituency, aim to resolve long-standing civic issues and modernize the area. Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal expressed gratitude to the Delhi Chief Minister for taking swift and sensitive decisions for the region’s development.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Conducts Detailed Inspection Across Five Locations
The Delhi Chief Minister’s inspection began at the RBI Enclave and continued through White House, Sahibho Nadi, BG-8 Market, and concluded at BG-6 Block Market. The visit was accompanied by MP Praveen Khandelwal, District President Ajay Khatana, MLA Karnail Singh, and Councillor Vineet Vohra.
The approved projects focus on eliminating waterlogging, strengthening roads, improving drainage systems, reviving the Sahibho River, and enhancing green spaces. These developments are expected to significantly improve public convenience and overall urban livability.

Santosh Yadav, a resident of Sonia Camp, expressed that basic issues like broken parks, non-functional streetlights, and clogged drains have persisted for years.
“Announcements are welcome, but real change will be visible only when work actually starts on the ground,” he stated.
RahuI, a resident of Meera Bagh, shared that the current government has shown improvement in sanitation, road maintenance, and park upkeep compared to previous administrations. He added that the present government appears more active at the grassroots level.
