Patiala launches Dengue Awareness Campaign led by Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh to promote prevention, hygiene, and mosquito control measures.
Patiala witnessed a major public health initiative as Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh officially launched the Dengue Awareness Campaign aimed at strengthening disease prevention and promoting community participation in mosquito control efforts.
The Dengue Awareness Campaign was formally inaugurated in Patiala by flagging off teams from the district health department. These teams will carry out door-to-door visits, water sampling, and inspection of potential mosquito breeding sites across the city. The initiative reflects the state government’s strong focus on preventive healthcare and early disease control.
During the launch event of the Dengue Awareness Campaign, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh actively participated alongside health officials. He visited residential areas and joined field teams in collecting water samples, especially from locations where stagnant water can lead to mosquito breeding.

The minister also interacted with local residents and raised awareness about the causes, symptoms, and prevention of dengue. He urged citizens to maintain cleanliness and ensure that water does not accumulate in coolers, containers, rooftops, or open spaces. Public cooperation, he said, is essential for the success of the Dengue Awareness Campaign.
According to health department officials, the Dengue Awareness is part of the Punjab government’s preventive healthcare strategy under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The focus of the campaign is not only treatment but also early prevention through awareness and surveillance.
Officials further added that with the onset of the monsoon season, surveillance activities across Punjab have been intensified. Special monitoring teams have been deployed to track and control mosquito breeding sites, ensuring that dengue cases are identified and controlled at an early stage under the Dengue Awareness .
