During the ongoing session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha,Deputy Speaker Rouri, in his capacity as Chairman of the Estimates Committee, presented the committee’s report on the budget estimates for the Department of Forest and Wildlife Protection and the Department of Revenue and Rehabilitation.
While presenting the report, Deputy Speaker Rouri stated that the committee conducted a comprehensive review of budget allocations, engaged in detailed discussions with departmental officials, and provided well-researched recommendations to the House.
The report on the Revenue and Rehabilitation Department includes key recommendations such as ensuring timely attendance of revenue officials, strict supervision of patwaris through surprise inspections to prevent delays in property transfers, and streamlining the land registration process by improving online services for public convenience.
Similarly, the report on the Department of Forest and Wildlife Protection emphasizes the efficient use of budget allocations, the regularization of daily wage and contractual employees for workforce stability, and the implementation of fair and transparent transfer policies. The committee also recommended large-scale afforestation efforts by planting indigenous trees such as Kikar, Tahli, Jang Karir, Jamun, Mango, Dek, Neem, Bohar, and Pipal on vacant government lands, riverbanks, canals, drains, and roadsides.
Deputy Speaker Rouri highlighted that 29 state government departments were selected for evaluation this year. The committee scrutinized records, conducted oral examinations of officials, and thoroughly assessed financial estimates.
Emphasizing the need for responsible utilization of public funds, Deputy Speaker Rouri stated, “The budget allocated by the House represents the hard-earned money of the people. It is the responsibility of departments to ensure these funds are used effectively and transparently for the maximum benefit of citizens.”
Deputy Speaker Rouri concluded by expressing appreciation for the Committee Members and the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat team for their dedicated efforts in compiling the report
