Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Karan Johar became visibly emotional while reflecting on his decades-long bond with Chopra and Khan. “The indelible memories kept Aditya Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and me attached,” Johar said. “I have learnt everything in cinema today from Shah Rukh and Adi. They are my gurus, my mentors, and my everything. I owe my entire being to them.”
Karan Johar went on to express his unwavering admiration, saying, “They will always be achievers, mavericks, and forces of cinema. For me, it is like I will always be Aditya Chopra’s assistant and Shah Rukh Khan’s younger brother. That never changes.”
He also touched on the trio’s shared history. “We have a bunch of photos that we can’t put on social media because Aditya is immensely private. When we sit and look back, I realize we’ve come such a long way. They are the only two people who can say anything to me because they are the reason I stand tall today.”
Karan Johar further expressed his deep familial bond with Shah Rukh Khan and his family, including wife Gauri and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. “Shah Rukh, Gauri, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam are my family. Aryan, in many ways, is my firstborn. I remember holding him in my arms in a park in London. Watching him direct today is awe-inspiring.”
On Suhana Khan, who is preparing for her role in the upcoming film King, Johar said, “I’m in awe of Suhana’s dedication. She and Aryan are working so hard to build their individual identities. They understand their privilege and never take it for granted.”
Praising Gauri Khan’s parenting, Johar added, “A lot of credit goes to Gauri. Her instincts as a parent are remarkable. Gauri is the spine of that family. I seek a lot of parental guidance from her.”
In a heartwarming moment, he said, “I want my children, Yash and Roohi, to grow up to be like Aryan and Suhana—well-raised, well-mannered, and grounded.”
Karan Johar also recently made headlines for attending the Cannes premiere of Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. The film reportedly received a 9-minute standing ovation.
As the release of Dhadak 2 approaches, fans continue to celebrate Johar’s passion for cinema—and his heartfelt connections with the people who helped shape it.
