The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is working day and night for the development of every section of the state. Under this, fare concessions for attendants of visually impaired persons on government buses and fee waivers for government job examinations for persons with disabilities will be implemented soon.

This announcement was made by Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, who spoke as the chief guest during the state-level function organized by the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development on the occasion of International Women’s Day at NIPAR Institute today.

On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister distributed appointment letters to 09 supervisors and 09 clerks in the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development and 14 stenotypists in the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities. Along with this, the Cabinet Minister also distributed loans of Rs 1.66 crore to 82 beneficiaries of Scheduled Castes from Punjab Scheduled Castes Land and Finance Corporation and loans of Rs 32.45 lakh to 17 beneficiaries of backward classes from Backfinco.

The Cabinet Minister said that in ancient times, women were pushed a lot and parts of that phenomenon are still visible today. Due to not prioritizing themselves, the majority of cases of anemia in the body are in women. The woman has always been struggling with patience and ease. Women like Mai Bhago and Rani Lakshmi Bai have carved their place in history, from whom guidance is needed.

The aim of the department is that women will be empowered with the appointment letters of government jobs and further, they will strengthen society. The Cabinet Minister said that the process is ongoing to fulfill the demands of the Anganwadi workers.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said that education is the greatest strength of a woman. She appealed to the people that parents should teach their daughters as much as possible.

Regarding the issued loans, the Cabinet Minister said that economic empowerment of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes are encouraged by SC And BC Corporation by providing loans to needy persons.

These loans are made available by the Punjab government at very low-interest rates. The objective of these loans is to empower individuals from marginalized communities. To enable them to set up their businesses, thereby raising their standard of living.

During the event, ‘goad Bharai Rasam’ of pregnant women was performed. Along with this, 40 newborn girls and their mothers were honored. Apart from this, women with outstanding performance in society were also honored, including Mrs. Yogita Verma, Dr. Navpreet Kaur, Simarpreet Kaur, Harinder Kaur, Deepti, and Ramjot Kaur were involved. On this occasion, the girls of Jyoti Sarup Kanya Asra Trust presented a vulture, which was highly appreciated by the audience.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Mr. Damanjit Singh Mann, Joint Secretary Women and Child Development Department Mr. Anand Sagar Sharma, Deputy Directors Sukhdeep Singh and Rupinder Kaur, District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh, District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Mr. Ashish Kathuria along with Officials and dignitaries from various departments were present.
